Hi, i've been noticing my hairline thinning out for couple months now and i have notified my GP that i was interested in getting propecia however they wanted me to consult a dermatologist before prescribing me with propecia. I live in Canada where healthcare although is good, its extremely slow and turns out my derm appointment is all the way in december. Im not an impatient person but I dont want my hair condition to simply worsen as I sit around doing nothing about it. So I was planning on trying out the Rogaine Foam and I have few questions I'm interested in:

1.) I understand that there may be a shedding phase but usually how long does it continue for ?

2.) Is it possible to receive any results or simply maintain from the foam on my hairline by december?

3.) If I discontinue the foam as I currently plan to when i get the propecia will my results all go away or is it possible that the finasteride will be able to maintain the hair that were gained? And if the hair does go away upon quitting exactly how bad is the withdrawl shock generally?

4.) Any good sources that I can purchase Rogaine Foam from?

the shedding can last up to 3 months in some cases.

i definately think you should start with the minoxidil and even nizoral shampoo.. even look into some other topical anti androgens to get you started.

you can purchase the foam cheap on ebay/amazon or if you want to use liquid you can use kirklands minoxidil which is really cheap and effective.

any other questions just let me know, but you should do something now. dont wait for it to get worse!

Thanks for the reply and i completely agree about acting quickly. I have already been using nizoral shampoo for about two months now and since my propecia prescription is on hold until appointment i guess minoxidil will be the key player for now. I wanna try the foam to begin with and once I become comfortable with the daily two application I may try the liquid. I have looked at other topical anti-androgen such as S5 and Ru but it seems S5 isn't too effective. RU seems interesting except I dont think I'll be able to go through the creating procedure because it seems so complicated with the alcohol etc.
