Hi.

Im 20 years old. Discovered loosing hear when I was about 16.
At 17 I started on minoxidil, and after a couble of munth it worked great. Stopped loosing my hear and got some new. Unfortunately it only lasted 1½ year, and something white started to appears on my scalp and the minoxidil stopped working, and again loosing hear.
Then I decided to try finasteride (1,25 mg). But that havent been realy succesfully, still loosing hear after 1½ year, and no new hear appear.
My scalp still very messed up with something white (dont think its dandruff because its not in the hear, but on my scalp, and when i scrape my neil to my scalp, its full of the white stuff, especially when I swet) My scalp also gets easely itchy for example when I wear a hat or when I swet. I've tried different kinds of shampoo 2-3 times a week, not helping on the scalp, and STILL loosing hear after being on minoxidil for 1½ year, and finasteride for 1½ years, together at once and single. Now I have stopped using anything, just to see how my scalp and hear will respons on that.

Now I need some advice what to do with my hear and not least my whity scalp. I wont give up untill I've tried everything, cause I love to have some hear :(
Should I maybe try dutas since the finasteride dont have an effect on me?? I am going to see a doctor soon, but before that I diceded to try to get some help/advice here.

Thanks for reading. I appreciat any solution or advice :)
Best regards Trasher!

What level of Norwood are you? 16 seems a bit young. I wasn't even aware people under 18 could get prescribed Propecia for hair loss (was that after you turned 18?). Make sure a dermatologist gets a sample and tests your scalp, or tells you for sure you have male pattern baldness, and if so what level of Norwood you are.

If you really are Norwood 2.5 - 4:

1. Get back on Minoxodil and Finasteride. Stick with it.
2. Soak your head with Apple Cider Vinegar, and leave it on scalp for 10 minutes, then rinse. This will reset the PH of your scalp, and help reduce the itch.
3. Wash hair with Nizoral 3 times a week. Use Nizoral or Revita as your Shampoo (Something with Ketoconazole in it).
4. Start rinsing your hair with Green Tea. Let Green Tea be the last water that dries on your head every time you wash your hair.
5. Stay away from fatty, or greasy foods. Don't Eat Red Meat or Cheese.
6. Start supplementing with Beta-Sitosterol, Zinc and Vitamin B6. The Zinc and B6 need to go together to work. Take the Zinc and B6 daily for 20 days at a time and then take a week off. Take Iron supplements, and eat oysters or clams during that week off. Then start over again with the Zinc and B6.

That last part (#6) will lower your DHT levels to extremely low levels when combined with Finasteride if continued. So be aware that all of the possible side effects associated with low DHT should be considered here. I do it and have had no serious issues. If it gets to be too much (e.g low libido etc) take a break on the Beta-Sitosterol and alternate with that bi-weekly.

Yes I was 18 when I got the prescribed Propecia. I think i am about the 2.5 norwood. And I am pretty sure that it is male pattern baldness, because of my father, he is bald, and lost his hear in a young age. But I also consider to see a dermatologist, because of my very messed up scalp.
Something i forgot to say is, when I put minoxidil on my scalp, it doesn´t seem to get in my skin, it is like it just makes a layer on my scalp with the minoxidil?? Dont really understand?? That is why I dont stick with the minoxidil.

Thanks for the advice, but it seems a bit complicated with all the 6 points. If you have to choose 2 or 3 most important, what would it when be??

It's your hair we're talking about here. Pretty important. You shouldn't be getting lazy if you're trying to save your hair. If you only did 3 of those things. it should be 1, 2 and 3.

Not all of these things you do "daily" Eliminating fatty foods you just stop doing. And soaking your head in Apple Cider Vinegar, you should only do once a month or 2. I added #6 because you wanted to know what else you could do to save your hair. Frankly, if Finasteide + Minoxodil isn't saving your hair, I wouldn't go making any big bets the other things would do much. I simply noticed you didn't mention that you shampooed with Nizoral and you mentioned the scalp problem.

If you have male pattern baldness, Get back on Finasteride, and switch the type of minoxodil application you use. Try the Apple Cider Vinegar thing once a month. And start Shampooing with Nizoral 3 times a week.

If you keep losing hair, add #6.

What do you mean by switch the application of the minoxidil, do you mean go foam, or another brand??

I'm just a bit scared of the nizoral, cause the time I used it, i lost a lot of hair in the shower, and every morning after, my scalp again pretty messed up with the white stuff, and easely gets itchy, but maybe I should give it a shut.
Am going to see a doctor soon, have some advice to ask him? Am thinking about the white stuff on my scalp, and see if the finesterid had any effect on me??

What kind of white spot appeared on your head? Where was it at?

When it appeared? or where??
It appeared at the same time the minoxidil stopped working. So I stopped with the minoxidil, but it is still on my scalp.
It is pretty much all over my head, maybe a bit more at the injured places, in the front and the bag of my head
