I had pretty bad acne all throughout high school and developed some bad scars. I was on minoxidil from ages 18-21, about 2 years. While on it, i noticed my scars were getting worse and had no idea why. Not suspecting it to be minoxidil at all, I dropped it because I had quit propecia and decided to shave my head and didn't like the way minoxidil dried my scalp out.
Well about 6 months after i quit I noticed a VAST improvement in these scars, i'm talking like 75%. This made me question why they were getting so much better, I hadn't tried to treat them or anything. So I remember reading a study awhile back on minoxidil and collagen production and things started to put 2 and 2 together. The sh!t I was rubbing on my head was destroying my face and i really regret ever getting on it.
Today my acne scars are 90% gone and I couldn't be happier with how my skin looks. If anyone is having problems with scaring on their face I would really suggest not using minoxidil, and if you do, DON"T apply on a wet scalp. This will increase the side effect.
Now that my scars are gone, I just need to find another way to keep my hair :thumbdown2:
