minoxidil 5% effective period

Hi everyone,

I had posted this question on other thread, however didnt' get the answer... Hope this can be answered here

Is there like an effective period for using minoxidil 5%... ? i have been using it for about a year now, but it seems my hair is losing in the recent months... i have read somewhere once the minoxidil 5% passes the effective period which is about a year, it will become less effective? do I have to stop using mino 5% for like 2 weeks then re-apply it again..? please confirm!!!

fyi, i am using proscar atm.

We -really- need a FAQ for this question.. its asked nearly every day!

The answer is something along the lines of, after a year minoxidil will not grow you any -more- hair, but mantain the ones that it helped grow.

So, can you up to 7% or higher to get better results or should you wait till the 5% loses its efficiency?

You might just be going through a shed. I'd stick with it and just see what happens.
