Minoxidil 2x a day to 1x a day: Veterans help...

Been using minoxidil for about ten years.

Got a new job with crazy schedule which is going to make two applications tough. Thinking about switching to 1x a day (perhaps doubling the dose to 2ml instead of 1ml)

Any veterans out there done this without losing progress?

Thanks!

Yes, I did about four years ago. I never even noticed a shed. and it certainly makes the regimen easier to handle.

Petchsky,

Can you elaborate on the brand you use and how much you use per application?

Thanks.

p.s. our regimens seem very similar. finasteride, minoxidil, Copper peps. Although I don't use Emu Oil.

My hair is pretty long at the moment and I haven't used Nizoral for months either, as it fries my hair when it's long.

JWM - I use the Kirkland minoxidil brand (liquid) and just use a 1ml standard amount, I don't use extra to make up for the lost application.

I only use emu oil sporadically, but we have practically the same regimen.

I've mentioned this in the past a few times over the years, and it's worth mentioning one more time: out of all the topical minoxidil studies I've ever read, I can think of only one which actually tested the use of just one application per day, compared to the normal two. It was an early study by Olsen et al, and they had used 2% and 3% versions of minoxidil. They _did_ find that the single application per day didn't work quite as well as two-per-day, but it didn't appear to make a really HUGE difference. Perhaps more importantly, I would guess that there would be even LESS of a difference for modern users who use 5% minoxidil, compared to those old-fashioned 2% and 3% solutions. I would also imagine that you could make up for some of the difference by using a larger application dose (2 mL, versus 1 mL), but not all of it.

I would also suspect (though not confirmed) that while 2 applications a day might be better in the beginning for getting hair growing, after a while 1 per day might be enough to maintain.

What about using 1 application per day for a long period, and then start 2 applications per day, does this help hair grow?
