I'm a diffuse thinner.... which from I've read is probabaly the worst form of male pattern baldness because the progression is very quick

What i've noticed after my most recent hair cut is that the sides are thinning out too? after a close hair cut i felt my head and it wasnt stubbelly* like it normally is.. it was soft..

also, my head hasnt itched up until a few days ago, and now it itches like crazy.. another bad sign probabaly.

I'm wondering if I should cut back on the nizoral and use a good conditioner? what do you guys suggest?

and no, I'm not freaking out.. although my hair looks like sh*t these days IMO.

The sides? Do you mean in the area that's not really affected by male pattern baldness?

If that really is the case Jeff, I don't think you are suffering male pattern baldness.. Or you are just excessively worrying about nothing and it's not thinning at all.

You know, stress isn't the cause of male pattern baldness... But, if you worry about it 24/7 and are constantly under a ton of stress over it, I could imagine that you can suffer some big sheds with healthy hair.

Do you think that stress plays a factor 3 months down the road like a treatment?
i will admit.. i was absolutly stressed out up until probabaly the end of december.
lexapro (anti anxitety) has helped me out a great deal since then.. but my hair keeps getting thinner and thinner.
and yes i mean the sides as in the part that shouldnt be affected by male pattern baldness.

Yes, I do. It's all part of the hair cycles. You need to relax. There is no reason you should be losing that hair bro. Just chill out, it will grow back. For SURE. Even without treatment, if you just relax.

Major stress has been shown to even kill women's hair. It can happen months after the stress occurs.

Didn't you say you had surgery recently? It might just be temporary hairloss.

Jeffsss its perfectly normal to shed while still in the early stages of Propecia use. Just ride it through, things will improve just give it time. As for the itch I wouldnt drop the Nizoral, try and find a good quality shampoo and conditioner to use on days you dont use Nizoral. Using a conditioner after Nizoral would be a good idea. AC Revitalise works great for me, but it will be a case of finding which one works best for you. Try and chill out a bit man 8)

thanks for the input..
I hope you can all tell by my posts that I have chilled out quite a bit.
I'm still very concerned.. but I'm not panicing as much.

i'm just a little concerned taht all my hairs i'm losing are very thin. It can't be a good sign.. but again.. i'm not painicing yet.

I think in the next couple months i will be buzzing my hair to liek a 1 or 2.
this will keep my mind off hair loss.. hopefully when it grows back, it'll be better.

Jeffsss this is an excellent sign. These hairs are thin because they have been damaged previously while the follicle was under attack by DHT. Now that you have lowered your levels of DHT (by taking Propecia) these hairs will grow back thicker, stronger and more pigmented. Once many, many hairs have been replenished in this way you start to see a cosmetic difference. So you can understand why hair is lost while taking Propecia and why it takes TIME to see results.

If my head wasn't so itchy I would never pay so much attention to my hair/scalp. I got 1% Nizoral last week and have used it 3-4 times so far, and even TGel on days I don't use Nizoral.

The itch actually gets stronger when I'm in the shower (wet hair) and lathering Nizoral or any shampoo. I get mild relief afterwards, but it usually picks up again.

I read posts on here statting the itch went away after starting propecia. I hope thats true for me when I start.

Jeff don't you spike your hair all around? The sides will show more scalp when you do that.

I think t/sal contains menthol, which definitely helped me when my itching was at its worst on Propecia.

Yes, even the sides *can* thin with male pattern baldness. Just depends on your genetics. I was watching Law & Order on USA last night and some older dude was completely bald except for this super thin strip of hair on his sides and back... Though even this "strip" of hair was thin and see through.

As far as shampoos, Nizoral irritated my scalp after using it over a year (3x a week). I since dropped it and my scalp never felt better! I highly recommend Suave Thick and Full shampoo and Suave Thick and Full conditioner. The stuff is cheap and it actually does give your hair more body! I've been using it for close to a week now every day and my hair even feels thicker. I really recommend this shampoo to any guy with diffused hairloss.

If you ever see Chris Elliot on TV anymore (which is highly unlikely), then you will see that he's about a NW7- with his sides extremely thin.

I don't use propecia.

What did you use? If you don't mind me asking.

I rotate Dr Lee's Shampoo (keto + salycilic acid) with Jason's 97% Aloe Vera shampoo. I also apply spironolactone once a day, but that came later. Finally, I take some MSM.

Since starting this regimen, itch has never come back and my hair is thicker than ever. I know it's not just the keto because I used to use Nizoral and that didn't really do the job.

As unlikely as it sounds, I believe the Aloe Vera shampoo (also has other stuff in it) is the most effective part of my regimen!
