Does anyone know what causes minaturization in non male pattern baldness areas such as side and back of head ?

androgens. Some folk have androgen sensitive receptors in those areas too

How likely is this in a 17 year old because I seem to be shedding alot from the sides and back of my head

I have started to see miniaturization of hair on the side of my head. It doesn't seem to be unusual, just not as prevalent as the top of the head/crown.

i have miniaturization around the temple points and sideburns...looks quite weird
