Mild rant and apologies!

All,

First off, please accept my apologies in making this somewhat public post. (Moderators, if I’m out of line here then feel free to boot, ban, move the post or whatever, I’ll take no offence).

Secondly, for those who don’t know, I’m transsexual. This means that for want of a better description, my brain is wired as female; it’s something we’re born with and has *nothing* whatsoever to do with homosexuality, transvestites, domineering mothers or a penchant for taking pictures of ones backside in a pair of tights (pantyhose for the US readers) and posting it on the internet.

Right, onto the point of the post: A fellow poster on the board, among the other insane assumptions he has made about me, is under the impression that I am a “Homo drag-queen†and is insisting that I stop posting on this board. Usually, I tend to ignore morons like this; however he did make one good point (Probably by fluke rather than lucid thought process), and that is that it may be unclear from some of my posts that my particular regimen is medically prescribed, and is certainly not to be taken purely as a hair loss treatment (The nutter then goes on to claim that I’m somehow perverting you all into becoming transsexuals too, and start popping female hormones, but I shan’t bore you with the rest of the rant).

Anyway, a result I shall be labelling my sig accordingly, and if anyone has been encouraged to start taking girly pills as a result of my “encouragement†then I sincerely apologise and I suggest you stop right away!

I think you should modify your signature - this regimen would really be a bit too heavy for the average male pattern baldness guy. :)

Furthermore, if the user you mentioned was writing you that via PM on HairLossTalk.com you should send a copy of this message along with his username to the site Admin. :!:

I've just received a much calmer mail from the chap. Maybe I should ask admin to pull this thread, feeling a bit guilty now.

Regarding the sig, I'm struggling to get what I want in there with the 255 char limit, any suggestions how I can make the warning more clear while not constantly labelling myself as transsexual? (I do so hate labels).

GeminiX, way to stand up for who you are! I guess that I'd say to the poster that is bugging you, "get a life!". It's apparent that you don't have your own as you are trying to butt into other's business.

Gemini x I think most of us with any sence admire you not only have you had to deal with hairloss you have had other issues a lot more serious than hairloss to contend with and you seem a very well balanced person in becoming who you are now and along the way no doudt you had your hard times in dealing with things.and probally still do.Its about time people realise its 2005 for fecks sake and if they fell the need to take their issues out on you then they are the losers. :)

GeminiX, Don't waste your time on ignorant people - life's way to short for this. - and don't even think about leaving this forum - you have been a great source of information so far (and I believe you will continue to be).

RE your signature: maybe you could just be really frank about it:

"31 year old (don't know your age) transsexual trying to change gender and grow hair"

Your medicines to go here..."

GeminiX, I kind of guessed that this was the case. The female contraceptive kind of gave it away to me at least. I hope it was not me that offended you. I don't think I did at least.

Anyway, it does not matter who we are or what we do. We are all in the same boat fighting hair loss and I admire your frankness.

Kepp up the good work...

If he doesn't like what you are about and continues to cause problems he can go and you stay. End of story.

For you guys who have problem with certain lifestyles, you should probably quit reading sites such as this because the sheer amount of gay people on these boards would send your homophobic struggling with your heterosexuality little hearts crawling away.

You guys ever wander why most gay guys have hair? They tend to take care of themselves more than straight men.

GeminiX, I know your aren't gay and I am terribly sorry for the lump catagory but due to the phrase he used I felt it was best to address it from that angle.

EDIT/ GeminiX for your Sig quote my post and cop and past this

Click for my hair photo diary

As you can see once you quote me, you can post that as your sig (and edit it however you want) and save characters.

WOW Cassin, you sure hit that one right square on the head! Very well put and very true! Does it really matter what lifestyle someone chooses for themselves as long as they aren't hurting someone else and are taking care of themselves?:) I think that the series "Queer Eye For the Straight Guy" shows us all that we all can learn something from each other. One of the BIG myths is that most gay guys are swishy!!! That's a bunch of BS! In fact, probably 2-3% of the gay American population are swishy but you're looking at maybe 30-40% of the population that are gay but usually they are married and wouldn't dare let out the fact in a survey if they are gay or not.

gotta admit, the statement that 30-40 percent of the population is gay, is probably a little steep you never know though, i could be the only truly straight guy out there, all the other guys are just faking it. :)

Does that really make sense?? It doesnt make sense to me that why someone would be gay and be married just to fake other people into thinking they arent gay? ha and 40 % people are gay? where are you getting your facts from greg?? i dont know any percentages on how many homosexual people there are in the world but being married for the sake of tricking people .. i dont believe that at all

Well I can think of one famous example. Elton John was married and he is most definitely gay. I am sure he didn't just "turn gay" after his marriage dissolved.

I'm very fortunate to get my medication on the NHS, so it's just matter of nipping to the local chemist and handing over a fiver :D

And a huge THANK YOU for all the kind words guys, you have no idea how much acceptance like that means to me!

You guys rock!

You can get Propecia on the NHS? Why the hell did I spend £300 on this stuff???

I thought NHS did not cover cosmetic stuff!

I think it's because of my condition, and the fact that my GP is very understanding. ALso I get Proscar, not Propecia, so maybe it's easier for him to get away with.
