Hi All,

First time poster here

I've been considering my hair for many years now recently took the plunge by going into a clinic in the UK called MHR clinic.

They went through treatment options for me and thankfully said I shouldn't need surgery.

They did however say that they would want to tackle my crown and general density of hair with:-

1. Low level laser therapy every two weeks
2. A custom prescription minoxidil med
3. 3 x herbal tablets
4. Finasteride at 1mg per day

For this they quoted £4,000 for a years worth of treatment

I just wondered if this sounded about right, a good deal or overpriced?

Also if anyone has had experience with MHR?

Any help appreciated!

Mal

Thanks for the information.

I believe the full run down of the treatment was:-

1. Zinc Citrate oral vitamin
2. Milk Thistle oral tablet
3. Saw Palmetto oral tablet
4. Saw Palmetto shampoo
5. LLLT every 2 weeks
6. The "custom" minoxidil. Now this was 10% stuff with azelaic acid and a proportion of alcohol that made it absorb better apparently.

Everything seems pretty normal until I got to the Minoxidil - is it possible to get 10% minoxidil and just add the azelaic acid?

He also said that Rogaine was a poor form of minoxidil as the foam absorbed more in the hair than on the scalp so he didn't recommend that?

I'm inclined to agree now you've laid it out like that though - £4000 seems steep!

lol complete f*****g rip off, scour the board for a while and come up with a regimen based on the info you find. Don't waste your time paying that sort of money for that rubbish. Finasteride and minoxidil are cheap as anything and should be your first combination when dealing with hair loss.

£4,000 for a bunch of useless herbs/vitamins/supplements that WON'T work + finasteride and Minoxidil? You are being scammed

just buy Duta and Rogain Foam (year long supply) for £500 and pocket that 3.5 grand.

Buy your finasteride from medexpress, cheap and start that, give it 12 months if no regrowth add minoxidil. Some people are amazing responders to finasteride and have no need for minoxidil to get regrowth so it's best to use it only if you really know you need to. If you are not maintaining after a year(though you more than likely will) then you need to switch to dutasteride.

I went to the belgravia centre in london and they tried selling me their 'own minoxidil' for £500 (they also sell 10 and 15% for £1000 and £1500) ...a year... and finisteride for an additional £400 a year or something. They had their own salesmen who interviewed you after your session with a 'hair specialist' who told me i could keep my hair just using their minoxiidil formula, apparently because i have had experience with anxiety i wasn't allowed to have finasteride. She tried also selling me some £300 lazer comb, their own shampoos and vitimins. Honestly its just a rip off. If you have the smarts to look into this online you wont need to waste that kind of money. They rely on people that dont do research and decide to go along with their 'more proven' minoxidil treatments and finissteride that i managed to make this lady admit you can get from prescription for cheaper.

Complete scam artists, the UK is full of them. Well not necessarily a scam but it is a f*cking rip off for sure.

Just buy topical finasteride mixed with minoxidil from Murray pharmacy (or minoxidilmax). 50 dollars for every 2 months. As effective as you can get with low chances of side effects.
