Body fat does serve a purpose, it keeps us warm in the winter months, it stores vitamins like vitamin-E, D, and A, it also supplies our body with a concentrated sources of calories in times of famine. But the down side is that body fat contains an enzyme called aromatase.
Aromatase has the ability to transform testosterone into estrogen. Estrogen has a nasty effects on men. First of all, estrogen has feminizing effects on men; it makes them less confident, less aggressive, less dominant, less muscular, estrogen accelerates the fusing of bone-growth-plates; making men's bone thin and short.
Researchers use to think that prostate enlargement was caused by androgens, but this did not make sense because young men have very high levels of androgens and no prostate problems (or baldness), so researchers shifted the blame from androgens to estrogens as being the real culprit behind prostate enlargement.
So, since we know that body fat contains very high levels of aromatase, why on earth would we eat animal fat. Wouldn't animal fat contain the same large amounts of aromatase?
Hero Ori Hoffmekler, author of the book: The Anti-Estrogenic Diet, claims that xenoestrogens are behind the feminization of men...but I don't think he realizes that animal fat is loaded with aromatase enzymes.
So since we know that animal fat is loaded with aromatase enzymes, what do you think would happen if you ate animal fat? You would increase estrogen levels*.
When estrogen levels rise, your body stops production of testosterone due to the feedback loop... you see, since estrogen is made from testosterone, the body senses the high estrogen and says to itself "I have too much estrogen...so I'd better stop production of testosterone, that way it cannot be converted into more estrogen".
So men...If you don't want to have clogged arteries, if you don't want to be feminized, If you don't want to have an enlarged prostate and a non-existent sex life, you will completely cut animal fats out of your diet. The largest source of animal fat is dairy products, the second source is obviously meats; cows, chickens, fish, turkey, etc.
Studies have also shown that vegan men have 13% higher testosterone levels compared to lacto-ovo-vegetarians (Allen NE. Hormones and diet: low insulin-like growth factor-I but normal bioavailable androgens in vegan men. Br J Cancer. 2000 Jul;83(1):95-7.)
