Absolutely right. A man can be in as good shape as possible, have a bright future ahead of him, be intelligent, wordly, warm and even a little bit unpredictable...but if he loses his hair over the years then forget it.

The reason that people say that "men age better than women" is because people only look at men who keep their hair e.g. Clooney, any average 30 year old with a NW1 or NW2. It just goes to show that NW6 men aren't considered valid 'men' by society. They're in a separate category altogether.

I think a dense nw3 is fine in your 30s and above.

DDL is a good example of a nw3 with great density at 50 years old:

I always thought it was more tongue in cheek. Assuming both are healthy, I think women actually show less variation as they age, but men aren't judged on looks nearly as much. Women's appearances matter enough that even a slight sign of aging crashes their perceived worth. Receded laugh lines guy has other avenues to invest in once looks go.
