I am on my third week of using finasteride 1mg + Nizoral (1% most days and 2% once in a week).
My Doctor said to keep taking finasteride for 12 months before making any decisions on it working or not working.
I am happy to do exactly as told but I need a nice way to measure progress for my own curiosity.
When I started my treatment, I found my hair extremely fragile:
- Touch my hair with my hand and I'd find a strand or two stuck to my hand. (95% of the time).
- Washing my hair would produce strands easily.
- Shampooing scared the heck out of me seeing so many strands.
- Conditioning was worse than shampooing.
- Combing my hair was also scary seeing so many strands come off each time.
After 3 weeks I found some improvements:
- Touching my hair no longer has hair stuck it (From 95% of the time to 0%).
- Washing hair doesn't produce strands.
- Shampooing still produces strands but maybe I'm imagining less.
- Conditioning still just as bad.
- Combing still has quite a few but has reduced.
I am keeping a personal journal to track my progress.
I plan to take photos of my head from various angles every 30 days. (Did one at the start of my treatment).
I am also going to start keeping track of average weekly hair shed count when I comb since I can count the hair in the sink at the end of each comb.
Just wanted to know what other ways you have tried to keep track of your progress ?
