just saw a picture of my grandpa when he was 35 and his hair looked ok. this officially makes me the ONLY male in my family (both sides) who's losing hair so young (i'm 23). my dad didn't start until he was in his 30s

anyway, i thought perhaps this might be something unnatural. and i thought about some weird things that occur with my body:

1. i used to have horrible acne and my skin is veeery oily
2. sometime, in pressure situations, i fel like my body is pumped with an abnormal amount of adrenaline. it gets to the point where i panic
3. i have more body hair than anyone i know in my family
4. of course, i'm balding early

does anyone think these are symptoms of some thyroid problem? or something of that kind? i feel like its something more than my genes.

also, how does one get tested for these things? what should i get tested for?

i think it could be possible. you need to do a blood test. i think the relevant tests are for your thyroid, zinc, ferritin and testosterone. could be more. but these are the ones my dermatologist ordered.

The symptoms that you listed are '''text book'' hyperactive thyroid symtoms, it could just be a coincidence, but it would be a good idea to make an apointment with your doctor and discuss those symptoms with him. I know what you meen about the feeling of excessive adrenaline, I get that alot and have panic attacks, they suck!

i've only had two full-blown panic attacks. mostly i just get anxious in certain situations. panic attacks are THE worst thing on earth next to dying. its like youre literally going crazy.

I had some panic attacks and you feel like your going to pass out and if you do you think you might die, scary stuff. Got rid of my live in girlfriend and none since lol. Stress can really affect you. When i was 18 my hair started thinning in front and stopped after i broke up with my first serious girlfriend at 20. Since then it stopped thinning until i was 35 or so. Hypo and hyper thyroid can cause hair loss and some think iodine absorption is part of the equation. Stress and hormones are interrelated so maybe an endocrinologist can tell you if somethings off. Good luck , don't stress.
