Is this a normal maturing hairline or should I go see a dermatologist? One side is worse than the other.. is that normal? Not sure I want to just hop on minoxidil or something without consulting a professional.

The idea of a maturing hairline is just that most people will lose some hair in front, but that it'll look more or less still in the nw1 pattern, just uniformally moved up a 1/3 of an inch appx.

At sixteen, you shouldn't have anything happening. But you do, n it looks like the corners are just receding, onward to nw2. Go to a derm.

Your hairline is similar to mine but you have more hair. At your age I had more hair there but with similar shape.

I think you might lose hair faster than I did especially considering your ethnicity.

I say it doesn't hurt to go to the doctor when you still feel good about yourself and can stop the emotional trauma of waiting to find out in a few years from now your destiny.

I also strongly suggest to stay away from minoxidil. I know it's super easy to just pick it up at the store, I almost did the same thing, but I am glad I learned more about it before I started using it.

I don't know if it's a great idea to start finasteride at your age. It could be okay because it's not as powerful as dutasteride. You don't really want to mess with your hormones before you're 25. So continuously monitoring your hair is likely what is going to happen once you see the doctor. If you start losing more hair then you can make the decision to lower your DHT before you are a fully grown man. Maybe you will only need a small dose of finasteride before you are 25 then move up to 1mg after or switch to dutasteride for more regrowth.

Stay healthy, eat well and get some sun. Don't do drugs or smoke. This will slow down your aging.
