Hello everyone this is my first post on this forums...

To start off I'm 19 years old and I have to say that Ive always had some sort of 'big forehead' Im 6' 2"(even on some photos of me as a kid it might look somewhat receded lol) and my hairline was never too straight but in last 2 or maybe 3 years things got worse i think. Well I did hear about mature hairline and how some men get NW2 and keep it for a longer period of life but to make things clear Id like to hear your opinion guys. If i could keep my all my hair from now for another 15-20 years id take that with pleasure.

My problem is receding hairline - the crown and rest of the scalp feels unaffected by balding yet. The front hairline is where it always been but temples seems to have receded in past 2 or 3 years. Ok so here are the photos:

Few words about my family history : my grandpa from mothers side went completely bald pretty early, like 40-50, grandpa from dad's side wasnt completely bald - he had receded hairline but he didnt lose all his hair from crown. My dad started balding at age 40 and had a Norwood 2 or 2.5 in his late 30's. Now he has receded hairline and low amount of hair in crown and hair general.

Let me know what you think.

Here are some pics

I'd say you're receeding at the temples, yeah, your hairline looks like it is starting to go and when you pull it back you can see somescalp in places, not much, but it bits you can see it through the layers of hair. It still looks good though, I'm guessing if it stayed as it is, you'd be pretty happy? I would go see a dermatologist, ask them to check for miniaturisation of hair follicles, and assuming they can confirm it is male pattern baldness, then immediately get on finasteride, it has a 9/10 chance of preventing any further hairloss indefinitely.

To be honest, the current hairline is pretty solid and thick, its just the shape that is different now... Also I didnt notice any nasty hairloss, i lose as many hair as I used to recently. The thing is that the hairline shape has changed, and its a bit higher now.

Well, do I have to find a special hair-dermatologist or just usual to check my hair?

When you pull your hair back, you can see your scalp through your hair a couple of inches back from your hairline at a couple of places. That's not a good sign. I know nobody wants to admit hairloss, but it'as best to work on the assumption that it is male pattern baldness until proven otherwise.

In theory, any dermatologist should know, but the reality may be different. Ask before booking your appointment if they can check for follicle miniaturisation, and if they can't, then don't bother. I had to go to a hairloss specialist for a proper assessment.

What does a follicle miniaturization test show exactly? What do the results tell you?
