Hello there, Im pretty confused by this whole mature hairline business and at exactly what point can you say that you are actually balding and not matureing.

Check out this link. http://www.baldingblog.com/2008/04/07/w ... -hairline/

I have noticed alot of people seem to go by this guys measurements. Judgeing from what he says here, your temples could potentially be 1inch further back than the mid point of your hairline. "The 1/2 inch - 2/3rd inch up from the highest crease in the midline and 1 inch - 1 1/2 inches from the sides is a generally good rule to use as a measurement" That is quite far back and seems that most people here would consider that balding and not a mature hairline.

So, how "mature" can a mature hairlline be before it can be considered balding? Also, the pics on the above linked website where he has drawn in the mature hairline are not receded enough to represent the measurements he has listed. See here http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/10/06/j ... th-photos/

Also, at what point are you considered a NW3? Can a mature hairline be between a NW2 and NW3? If you go by the Norwood chart, especially from the side views, it seems NW3 temples are receded as far back as the ear. See above link.

My personal thoughts are that a "mature hairline" is just the start of male pattern baldness. Older men that have seemingly had the same mature hairline for years are just balding more slowly imo.

The second link you posted is very interesting but I disagree with a lot of it.
