Mature hair line ?

Some people seem to be suggesting that a mature hair line is not hair loss but simply a way that hair goes as you get a bit older. This isn't true for all guys as some have those straight line or widows peak hairlines. This could be low level denial

Isn't a mature hair line simply another way of explaining a small amount of frontal hair loss; what's others take on this ?

Yes, you're right on this one. A mature hairline isnt something that just magically happens as you grow older or something based in a completely different process than Androgenetic Alopecia. Its just a very mild form of Androgenetic Alopecia/male pattern baldness which - hopefully - never progresses further.

I think mature hairline is actually just a made up term to excuse the poor treatments and lack of options that exist. I mean you may as well accept some frontal baldness because not much you can do anyways. Even propecia doesnt work perfectly their so you dont have any choice anyways. Throw in the fact no one knows much about male pattern baldness anyways aside from androgens do it and you can say almost anything you want and not be wrong. The male pattern baldness process certainly causes a "mature hairline" the same way it does a Norwood 7 its all just miniaturizing hair in the end.
I also dont buy into the many factors that people claim can cause male pattern baldness like smoking, diet, and things like that. I dont think aging causes male pattern baldness at all on its own simply based on real live men that are 50+ years old with no hair loss just proves that cant be the case. I think male pattern baldness is like 99 percent completely androgen mediated disease although if you dig deeper much more goes on than the initial androgen trigger so really we dont know the deeper true causes of male pattern baldness. Maybe WNT pathway and many downstream factors like PGD 2, igf and so on. So the answer is we dont know yet but male pattern baldness unlike many diseases is completely out of your control.

Good points. I'm tapering off finasteride and may even ditch it as I'm getting bad sides. My ex used through in that some women get cellulite where men don't. A bit of cellulite is no big deal but a bowl of porridge makes me think twice. I don't think of hairloss or cellulite as diseases more conditions.

Yes, the way I see it, It's still hair loss and still makes you look uglier or less unattractive because a receding hairline changes your face for the worse.

I doubt this is true. Just because a woman carries a bit of cellulte or stretch marks doesn't make her off limits. She is likely to be less conceited for one thing same as guys with 'imperfections'

It's just a politically correct way of saying Norwood 2. Hair loss has occured, but most professionals wouldn't consider it "balding" just yet. Actor Ryan Reynolds is probably a good example. He's clearly lost some hair in the front, but the hair around it is thick.

I wouldn't say he's 'clearly lost hair' as it could just as easily be biatch talk.

Lol don't use celebrities when it comes to hair loss. He's most likely had a hair transplant or is on propecia.

That looks like male pattern baldness to me. I judge male pattern baldness according to current hair compared to his 18 year old hair. If hair grew there before and its gone he has male pattern baldness. Looks pretty obvious to me.

For the longest time Michael Fassbenders hair seems like it never progressed any deeper. I would have thought he would have been Jude Law territory by now.

I think there is such a thing as adult male hairline, 90% of men get sharp hairline corners after puberty and lose a bit of the fine hair that used to make their hairline round at the corners when they were small kids. But if your hairline starts to change in your 20s its definitely male pattern baldness, although it doesn't necessarily mean you ll be NW7 anytime soon.

These two guys have adult male hairlines IMO, sharpe corners and hairlines but no recession of the hairline
