I have what a lot around here would call the male pattern baldness itch and it’s never been constant, it’s kinda came and went but I’ve always used minoxidil when I’ve had it. I wonder if it’s really just the minoxidil itchies. Does anyone get what they think is either or and how do they feel. Any input especially how you’ve gotten rid of it would be appreciated

You think male pattern baldness is probably due to human DNA. Min is not from human DNA.

Yours must not hurt that bad then

Yes you are right... before I tried finasteride didn’t have much itch->started finasteride and stopped causing awful terrible itching->rogaine and propecia a completely livable itch

I had the itch prior to minoxidil, I still sort of have it now using minoxidil ( I use it orally ). I think the itch is due to male pattern baldness, however minoxidil ( especially topical ) can exaggerate it a bit.

I think it’s a reaction to a synchronized hair shed

Isn't it more likely just to be the Ingredients in the minoxidil? Propylene glycol and alcohol can cause irritation and itching on some peoples skin.

I use the foam though, not the liquid.

I dunno some people probably itch for different reasons. Like if you have greasy scales then you have sd

I itch right where I’m losing hair and always have, they have to be related, retinoid thinks it’s a histamine reaction to the androgens in your body

Its a good theory and would make sense since male pattern baldness causes inflammation. What's your current regimen? Has it helped your hair?

.5 dutasteride every night bf I go to bed, 2.5 finasteride in the morning, 15% min, .01 finasteride,.025 progesterone, .5 hydrocortisone compound morning and night, laser comb 3 times a week, 1.5 dream rolling 2 times a week, and various vitamins. About the 3rd month I grew my hair back out from shaving and it was noticeably back to baseline and thicker, now it seems like I’m shedding again and losing some ground. I’m hoping that this is a second dutasteride shed and I’ll rebound.

It may be multifaceted. People with Telogen Effluvium itch so I think the process of switching to the telogen phase triggers the itch cascade (histamine, substance P, etc etc). male pattern baldness shortens the anagen phase so I think there is some of the same element there as well. It has been documented that people with Androgenetic Alopecia have a higher incidence of perifollicular lymphocytic infiltrate however some portion of the normal population has it as well. That could be contributing but we can’t say for sure... then it also seems like balding folks have a huge incidence of SD which I think is also related

I’m pretty sure you’ll end up ok man

Na, the male pattern baldness itch is not caused by minoxidil. Get on RU and the itch will be gone in a few days.

I take it you’ve had the itch? How long have you been on it, where is a good source, and how do you mix yours. Please answer, bc if you are similar to me then this could be my answer.

Yeah I've had the itch. Been using RU over a year now atleast. Mix 3mg of RU in a regular sized bottle of minoxidil and shake it up and store in your fridge. You can use in the morning or morning and night for best results. 1-1.5 ml each time. I get mine from kanes shop but other people use chemyo.
