the theory is simple. Without a prostate you would not experience hair loss. Men who have had their prostates removed have sometimes grew back hair.

Finasteride shrinks the prostate
As men grow old their heads go bald and their prostates grow.

Obviously we want to keep our prostates. Without it we would have reproductive issues among other sexual problems.

The question is are their sexual lifestyle choices, benefits that can be or achieved for prostate health that would help prevent hair loss for those that are susceptible.

Such as having sex twice a day.
Or having a prostate massage regularly. Etc.

Probably not right? But I'm convinced if you didn't have a prostate you wouldn't lose hair.

What about women with Androgenetic Alopecia? They have no prostate, yet...

You got me stumped there. The g spot is similar to the prostate. Let me find the source of a woman's dht production and I will get back to you.

Sure! I also wonder how in the world women can have androgenetic alopecia because "andro" means "man" in Greek. But they do.

Apparently women produce androgens similar to how men produce estrogens. They produce the androgens in their ovaries.

After doing some reading the prostate is really just an alkalinity mechanism that holds precum and counters against the acidity in a vagina to protect the sperm. Honesty I'm losing interest fast on the subject. I don't think lifestyle has anything to do with hair loss. And I'm not going to get in an argument with someone who thinks it does because i really can't proove it. I will let the burden of proof stand with the person who is making the claim. I think it's all genetics. It would be similar to a woman wanting a sex change to become a man and taking hormones to grow a beard. She/he couldn't do it naturally. No matter what you eat/physically do etc there has to be some form of hormone altering to change this.

Durasteride and finasteride are it if you want to go that route.

I've already taken my stance. Having started finasteride at 18 and quitting it at 26.5 years old I feel that finasteride didn't have nearly as much of an effect on me as stressing over whether it did or not.

But my recommendation still stands. Don't take it.

If you don't care about your hormones and possible consequences if any of taking it then go right at it. But you might feel differently about it 10 years down the road. Look back and then wish you never took it.

I'm more dealing with effects of finasteride then my hair loss. I don't even care that I've gone bald (Norwood 4-5). I kind of like the look now. What bothers me is that I took finasteride so long and am worried that there are unwanted permenant effects from it
as a result.

But as the wise say. Don't worry about things you can't control. And I can't control or change the fact that I've been on a hormone altering drug for a large part of my adult life. What's done has been done and it's time to move on.

Just wanted to share this insight with young people making the decision to get on this drug. And the burdens of the unknowns you take with you by taking it.

Yoshi are you celibate or have you managed to maintain an active sexual life with your bald look?
I have a very active sex life with my partner. To be fair i wooed her with hair tho. But I know guys balded than I am that have been getting very very attractive tail. these guys look a lot
Like me too. We have normal shaped heads and don't shave completely bald. One guy keeps his hair a little long and curly. It's a ginger color. Another guy is blonde and sports a full beard with it. Looks good. I know a guy that went bald at 21 and never lost his touch with the women. Honestly this site is full of
Negativity and trolls and will make you despair over you hair loss. Don't get me wrong some women will absolutely not want to date a bald man. You don't want to be we these women anyway. These same women might 2 weeks later be all over you.
so don't read much into it.

My recommendation is find something positive in your life you can share with others that isn't related to sex. Being positive is the ultimate attraction though. It's not confidence. It's being positive. No one wants to be around a negative person. You will push people away from you including girls.

You see a positive bald man with a strut and smile being cheerful, loving life and flirting etc. vs a full head depressed negative guy looking down shoulders slumped avoiding contact and interaction with people. Who do you think people and girls will be drawn to? Being bald makes you unique. Being an attractive (Positive) bald guy can in many cases be better.

Classic case of oversimplification. Lots of people had severe male pattern baldness at age 17-19 and 40-50 years later they still dont have troublesome large prostates. My long dead granduncle lost his hair in his late teens during military service in 1924, he lived to be 80+ and had health issues but prostate wasnt one of them. In fact theres no prostate problems in that side of the family but lots and lots of male pattern baldness.

And i like to add, theres lots of guys with hair who see less pussy than most bald guys, and what girls say is never what they really think about guys, just look at all those who want a "nice caring funny smart guy" and when they finally meet one they think he is gay and go screw guys who are the complete opposite. If you were exactly what the girls say they want you would be their gay best friend whom they want to bring when shopping shoes, pussy would be stricly off limits no matter how great hair you had.

In 2001, the Federative Committee on Anatomical Terminology accepted female prostate as an accurate term for the Skene's gland.
Correct. However at least one study suggests that the prostate is not responsible for the circulation of DHT, which seems to happen instead in skin and liver.

http://press.endocrine.org/doi/pdf/10.1210/jc.2003-030521

In conclusion, although most circulating DHT may be derived from type 2 5 -reductase, quantitatively this enzymatic reaction occurs predominantly in tissues other than the normal prostate.
