Hey guys, i'm 21 years old and I been on Propecia for a 1 year a 4 months now I started 3 months before my 20th birthday. I'm pretty sure I started Propecia in the very first stages of balding with a few miniaturising hairs on the hairline or it may have been a mature hairline developing, I would say the loss progressed to a norwood 1-1.5.
As I started early does that mean I have a chance in keeping my hair longer? since being on propecia my hair has stabilised and my hairline seems thicker where a few of those hairs looked thinner on my hairline. As far as I could tell it wasn't aggressive and my hair everywhere else was fine. What advantage do I have starting early? given I'm a good responder after x amount of years am I likely to keep my hair as it is for at least a decade?

The earlier you start propecia the better so you did the right thing starting early.

There is no way of knowing how long it will be effective for but seeing as you caught it early and responded well I think its realistic to expect good hair for 10 years plus.

Yes, if you're a good responder to Finasteride, there's a good chance that you'll be able to keep the hair that you have for 10+ years, or probably even for the rest of your life as long as you stay on the medication. The advantage of starting treatment early means there's a higher chance of getting better results.

I can't believe how insanely fast you acted on your male pattern baldness, any reason behind that? what is your family history of male pattern baldness?

So its true then. Starting earlier will mean you will benefit for longer?

The earlier you start treatment, the better the chance of getting good results. When taking Finasteride for hair loss, there's a good chance of keeping the hair that you have for 10+ years or probably for life.

He started with only a few miniaturized hairs. Yeah I would say he caught it early.

Everyone in my family has a head full of hair apart from my uncle (dad's brother) who lost it in he's mid 20's. The reason why I acted so quickly is because I checked my hairline and noticed a change.Would you say catching hair loss at Norwood 1/1.5 considered catching it early? I'm glad Propecia has potential to at least help me get through my 20's if it goes down hill from my 30's at least it's more acceptable being bald at that age and I can grow a beard to compensate for the loss.

Yes, that's catching it very early, and it's great that you acted upon it so fast. Like I put in my previous most, there's a good chance of keeping the hair that you have for 10+ years or probably for life. As long as you stay on the medication, you should be fine.
