Temples are gone, thinning over scalp and i have 3 spots below the crown with hair loss in circular motion.

Is it possible to have multiple forms of hair loss? When i apply some pressure to the are liquid comes out but not sure it's blood. I've applied clearasil over the last few weeks. it seems to be getting worse.

male pattern baldness wouldn't prevent other kinds of hair loss, so it's possible... Do the pics of alopecia areata on google look similar to the spots below the crown? That would be worth seeing a dermatologist for, as treatments are different...

I'm going to speak to my GP I think the antidepressants caused it.

I doubt your anti depressants would cause that. Any new hair products or have you changed anything with shampoos. Do you use Nizoral shampoo? Could be some type of dermatitis caused by something you may have been exposed to or its alopecia areata. I think it is very possible to have male pattern baldness and hair loss caused by other factors too.

do you have a picture of your hairline? apart from the crop circle it does not look like thinning to me!

Nothing has changed DH. I have only started to notice it the last few months, it's gotten worse because no one made any comments about it until a couple of months ago and earlier this week. I think I had another spot on the left but that filled up. I also notice months ago having some odd spot loss on the beard area. It's very minor.

I've done some research and there are reports of ssri and Citalopram causing hair loss and alopecia areata. I'm going to talk to my GP about trying an snri.

I had an ex hair dresser look at it and she said one has acne, but no signs of dermatitis.

I haven't touched nizoral in over 10 months and don't ever want to use it again, it failed to clear up the dandruff and thinned out the crown.

your crown does not look thin. I'm on 20 mg of citrol and I've never heard of it thinking hair. it control serotonin in your brain not dht. intact it's possible it lowers test levels which has been documented. do you have a pic of your hairline? did you use nizoral as stated or overuse it in all honesty?

Went and looked at older photos, the first one I noticed was August 26th this year.

I had moved from 20mg of Citalopram to 30mg a week earlier. I was on 20mg for about 6 months prior to upping it. I had used Citalopram over 10 years ago and never remember having spot loss like this before.

I don't use nizoral, I used it for 12 months and dropped it earlier this year, roughly Feb\March.

Antidepressants have also been linked to alopecia. According to the Hair Loss in Psychopharmacology study published in March 2000 by "Annals of Clinical Psychiatry," antidepressants with lithium have reportedly caused alopecia in 12 to 19 percent of patients who used the medication long term. Antidepressant medications that are categorized as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRI, may result in alopecia. The most commonly reported medications that can result in hair loss include Celexa, Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft. Celexa and other antidepressants may cause a reduction of amino acids and protein. Since hair is made up of mostly protein, a depletion of protein can cause the hair to fall out.

I'm sorry to say buy your crown looks normal. hair looks thick but you don't have simple crown. mine looks the exact same in the same kind of picture. harsh flash with short hair! your crown is not in a circular motion so it sort of sticks up at the crown. when it's long do you get sort of a flat bit at the back where your crown is? I've seen a Dermo and he told me my vertex area was fine! I'll post a pic of it.

interesting to read that about the ssri. I see it's linked with protein though so if that's the case you should be able to regrow the hair if the ssri is stopped. you thought about a 3 month break? dropping back to 10 or trying another, I also recommend cbt!

I think your hair ontop looks ok. I can't tell with the hairline. maybe it's a nw2 and it'll stay there for a few years?

Wow very similar.

As far as I can remember I have always had a widows peak. I've got the odd hair on the temple where a natural hair line would be.

I'm seeing my GP tonight and will ask to be referred to a derm and switch to an snri. I can't believe I was stupid enough to let it go so long and ignore the problem.

my derm told me I didn't have male pattern baldness and by looking at that pic you would think I had it aggressively there. let it grow a little longer take a pic with normal lighting and it looks very different.

I can't see your hairline pics also would need pics from years ago to compare. this is my hairline.

yea 10 years is a very long time. do you think you could cope with a lowr dose? can I ask what you're on the for? depression or anxiety?

Number one reason was depression now purely anxiety since at 30mg I can't get depressed. I am now 9 months in. I was on 20mg 10 or so years ago for a year.

I don't have any good before pics outside of this year.

I will upload hair line pic shortly.

Back from GP he isn't concern he said it's inflamed and gave me elocon lotion and referral to derm. He doesn't think derm is required. One of the spots has hair popping out.

And I'm sticking with 30mg Citalopram

I don't care what anyone says those bold spots are nit male pattern baldness! Looks like a set type of alopecia. the derm will sort it for sure. take a pic of your hairline with your hair that short. also random question, does the right and left side of your hairline lay different ways? my left hairline is less receded and seems to lay forward like it's been combed that way where as my right side that is receding just lays flat down. same as temples. it's only been like this since I've started receding.

Quick update saw my GP last night, going to see him again tomorrow as I have 4 rashes on my body which I forgot to mention last night, I'm convinced the extra dosage of Citalopram is causing all of this. I will take some pics tonight jabba and answer your questions.

- - - Updated - - -

Make that 5 rashes.

If the GP won't agree to switch meds or stop Citalopram I am going to drop everything but a/d tabs and slowly reintroduce things.

My hair appears to lay different ways for the most part, left side, forward left, right side forward right, but it does sway to the right side more overall. IMO my left temple looks in better shape.

I used to have curly\wavy hair in my youth which has no gone almost entirely straight.
