Low libido before taking finasteride?

Hey!

New here, but been reading on and off for two years now, 23 yrs atm.

I got finasteride from my Doctor a cople of months ago and thinking about taking it. But what scares me is that i already have a low libido and not having morning erections every morning (not as hard as they used to be either). I pretty sure the main cause is my anxiety. I'm not happy with my life at the moment and the main reason is my hair. It's like i don't want do start doing anything before i make my mind up on how i'm going to do with my issue. Anyway, even though i think the hair is causing my low libido i'm affraid that finasteride will make things worse. I know how strong the anxiety feelings are and even though you may think its just your mind, when you fall down the spiral it becomes reality and is hard to deal with. Basically i'm wondering if it's fine to take finasteride anyway?

I've searched alot to find someone with the same thoughts and im suprised i havent found anything. I mean, so many people are thinking about taking finasteride and actually takes it, no one seems to consider their libido before taking it. Low libido isnt that uncommon and has many reasons.

I have noticed a drop in my sexual desire since taking it. I don't think of sex as often as I use to but it is still there - there is a noticeable difference for sure. I thought about sex daily, multiple times a day while not being on finasteride and now I can go a few days without thinking about it.

Alright! I know that that is a possible side effect, and seems to pretty common. But my concern is that i already have low libido without ever taking finastiride and i'm nor sure if i should take it anyway.

I have the same problem, I plan to have some hormones tested first.

Tbh i think that the hormones at a young age rarely is the case. I've read somewhere that it's more common in young men today and i guess it's the mental part and sometimes p**rn. But what i am thinking is, will it be harder to get the libido back while beeing on finasteride. As lower libido seems to be a side effect that alot of people get, but doesn't mind. I wouldn't mind either, but I'm affraid that it would work like "1+1". Proabably no one has the answer to this, but i would love to hear from people who had the same issues before starting the medication.

I was in a similar position. Having anxiety/depression my libido was low prior to starting finasteride and even male pattern baldness. Libido remained the same after starting finasteride and fluctuates with how I'm feeling. Nothing to do with finasteride only my anxiety/depression. If anything after starting finasteride I got a huge boost out of my anxiety/depression because at least I could tell myself I'm fighting it. It's good to be cautious, but don't stay focused on it too much if you starting taking it.

This is one of my fears.

But I am going to start finasteride, and try and block out all the negativity surrounding it and see how my body reacts! Only way to really see how it will effect me, but if you do start I wish you luck!

Thanks for the aswers guys! Thats what i'm hoping for, that the libido is not affected in the same way by finasteride. That it has two different causes and doesnt add up. I'm also affraid of the side effects that may come later on, like, you take the pill for years and you never know if it will strike you. And that it will affect my appearance in any way other than keeping my hair. It's not about just having hair, it's about looking good wich is important. If my hair wont look good I'll get a hair piece.

Hoping for some more answers, there has to be some more guys on here. Would help me out and probably other aswell.
