Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT): Have you had positive results?

Hi all -

Firstly, thank you in advance for your help.

I'm a 28 y/o male experiencing hair loss in the front of my head. My hair transplant doctor recommended I treat my scalp with laser therapy in addition to my hair transplant. Before making the costly purchase of a laser helmet, I thought I'd poke around here. For anyone who has used LLLT in the past, I'd greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts on what kind of results you've seen. Have you used it as prescribed? Was it able to eliminate further hair loss? Have you noticed thickening of your existing hair? Were you on Rogaine or Propecia at the time? Which brand of helmet did you use?

As you know, it can be difficult to get unbiased, trustworthy information on the internet. Any insight you might have would be extremely helpful.

Thank you so much!

if your hair transplant surgeon recommended a laser helmet...... consider finding a new surgeon.

That's all I'm going to say

Quantum Cat, I'm curious to hear your basis for this opinion...

I've consulted to 2 surgeons so far. One recommended LLLT, the other basically said he had no conclusive evidence on the subject. I am aware that all these guys are salesmen and am naturally skeptical.

I've been using the hairmax laser comb for about 10 months, 3 times a week consistently. It's just like the helmets, but you have to move it around. Has it grown my hair back? Nope. But I will continue to use it because it has improved my hair cosmetically. It just looks healthier and maybe a little more dense. I will say I noticed a lot of vellus hair growing around my temples around the 3-4 month mark and some of these did go terminal, but not a life changing amount. It should also help reduce scarring after your hair transplant, but don't expect miracles in the hair department. And I've been on finasteride and minoxidil for 11 years.
