Hi everyone.
I am here and I am losing hair. I have no clue how did this happen and I am still searching for clues. I am Meditarenean origin so we came from very 'hairy' background so this is even more enigmatic to me, because it just can not be genetical....at least not my family genes.

Let me give you my story. Slightly more than three years ago I have decide to let my hair longer. It was up to my shoulders almost and those pics I will post in a couple of days (if I don't break in tears). After that period there were some serious changes in my life. At that time, around 35 I went back to school to finaly get my college degree. I also got my first baby and then serious change of careers also followed.
Everything was so hectic and happening too fast but still I haven't noticing anything with my hair. Other than my wife hating it so I had to cut it and go back to very short cut pretty much that was always my regular style.
The problems and real stress started when my wife got pregnant for the second time. Baby was fine but my inlaws moved in with us to help us.

This is probably the biggest mistake of my life, because those people are making my life miserable for every minute of the past two years.

To continue.....Due to lack of free time (important fact as a former professional athlete) I quickly gained serious weight almost 30 pounds over 12 months span due to inability to workout. I used to be gym buff and then I just had no time. Let's repeat weight gain was also due to heavy stress from my mother in law is making my life miserable. Also, my kids (who I love dearly) don't give me any rest which is very hard considering that I work in very stressful enviroment between 60 and 70 hours per week. I am lucky to get 5, 6 hours of sleep with 2 and a half year old boy and 6 months old girl.

To cu the story short....with all this in the past two years I have lost almost 40 percent of my hair coverage. It is puzzling to me because my grandfather died at 70 with full set of hair. My brother and my father are fully covered now just as I was....2 definitely 3 years ago.
I realized what was going on like 6 months ago when I started with Fitoval shampoo, pills and lotion but that didn't help much. This month I started taking Propecia and also Nizoral once per week in a combo with Fitoval that I am still taking regularly.

I don't know what to do anymore.
What was it: Stress due to my inlaws abuse that led to weightgain, stress due to work and new career, lack of sleep because of two babies. Combination of all this ??? I don't know but I will fight. I have to.
A lot of people here have problems with hair and that is very said. But in my case, I was like Samson and all of the strength and ego I was feeding from my strong hair. I am searching for answers .....but I will not go down without the fight.

ANY SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.
Thanks and I got my courage from all of you good brave people who fight different reasons for baldness.

There's nothing more you can do so relax...you're already on propecia.

This might sound harsh, but is it really that big a deal when you're around 40 and married with kids?

I was just wondering is my choice of shampoos (Fitoval 3,4 times and Nizoral once per week) is OK while taking Propecia. Should I try something else.

Thanks

I'm not sure what fitoval is, but most people on these forums just use propecia and nizoral (2-3 times a week). Others add rogaine if they need a little extra boost after a while.

I am not really familiar with Rogaine and what it can do (don't get me wrong I heard about it) but I always thought it only fixes the back of your head, meaning that part of the hairloss issue. Can it be used with Propecia. What about when I stop using it and does it wear off, because as we all know if I stop using Propecia it is all gone.
What about vitamins, oils and even HGH (my buddy at gym swore it helped him). Thanks for all the help, because everyday I come to this forum I feel better and more confident.
By the way Nizoral is so strong, first time I got it in my eyes and it burned the crap out of me, because I guess I didn't wash it off completely.

No one really knows why rogaine works but (unlike propecia) it doesn't reduce DHT (the chemical in your body most responsible for hair loss). Some seem to think it increases blood flow to the hair follicle...but who knows. Anyway, if it gives you regrowth you must continue using it for as long you want to keep those hairs. If you stop, any hairs grown with rogaine will fall out...it's a life long commitment. It works well all over the head but is generally most successful on the crown and top of the head. The FDA tests were only on the crown and top so that's all they can advertise.

Most people will start with propecia and only add rogaine if the results from propecia aren't satisfactory...so, yes, it's fine to use both propecia and rogaine (many people do). The thing is, propecia may give you the results you want on it's own so, in many cases, there's no need to bring rogaine into the mix. And (in my opinion) you definately don't want to use rogaine unless you absolutely need it because it's expensive, a huge pain to applicate and it's a life long commitment.

So, give propecia 12 months and then decide if you thinking adding rogaine will be helpful.

Use Nizoral twice a week if your scalp can tolerate it. Leave it in for 3-5 mins before rinsing it out thoroughly...and keep it well away from your eyes.

Thanks so much....and I think I will give Propecia 12 months run before I try anything else.
I just have to try to find the time, the best time to take it because I keep varying 2,3 hours off my scheduled time of the day (due to little kids mostly).
