yes it would but youll never keep your hair with just rogaine, you need propecia/proscar or a generic like fincar.

many people here use 'the big three'

that is propecia, rogaine (minoxidil) and nizoral 2% shampoo

as long as you are over 18 you can get on propecia,it works best when used with other treatments.

Many youths such as yourself convince themselves that they are balding, but look at your uncles and grandfathers on both sides of your family to approximate your chances of balding in your future. Also see a dermatologist for a professional opinion and if you do in fact have male pattern baldness then he will give you a prescription for propecia.

minoxidil works better with finasteride.

yo yo yo

I am 23, and I began fighting hairloss when I was 20 as well. My forehead started to "get bigger" and my girlfriend at the time took her finger and put it on my crown where she said i was starting to thin. b**ch :firing: Kidding.

At first, I had GREAT results with minoxidil (rogaine) but after two years, my hair loss continued unabated. I have recently begun using Propecia and am hoping that will be a more powerful tool against male pattern baldness for the long-term (5-10 years).

Minoxidil (marketed under the brand-name Rogaine) used to required a prescription, but it is now available OTC in most grocery stores and large chains (Target, Wal-Mart) with a multitude of cheap generics available (10$ per month). Most here swear by Rogaine Foam, but I use MiN Agent (5% Minoxidil + Kopexil, Procapil, and Copper Y3) which is good but a little annoying bc it has the consistency of a lotion, however I do think that it is a little more powerful than your typical 5% as when I began it a year ago I had a brief burst of regrowth and thickening. THAT SAID, I WOULD TRY PROPECIA FIRST!

In the US, Propecia is available only by prescription, and no generics are yet available. Buying online is cheaper and more easily available, but there is no guarantee that you are getting what you paid for and it IS ILLEGAL unless the pharmacy is located in the US. A recent study cited on these forums says that as many as 60% of online drugstores sell FAKE drugs. I have chosen to pay for brand-name domestic Propecia (finasteride) because I know it is real and I trust my local licensed pharmacist. Others claim that they have had luck ordering generic finpecia online. Others swear by Proscar which is the same drug but in a 5mg form that you have to cut into 4-5 pieces. To me, that is a pain in the *** and I don't know if the active ingredient is distributed evenly throughout the binder/filler in the pill.

minoxidil vs. Propecia

minoxidil is a vasodilator that increases blood flow, however most experts agree that this isn't what causes increase in hair growth. Some hypothesize that it holds open potassium channels and pushes the hair follicle into more frequent growth phases (something like that...). The bottom line, however, is that minoxidil was originally taken orally as an antihypertensive (for high blood pressure). ITS SIDE EFFECT IS HAIR GROWTH.

In contrast, propecia targets 5alpha reductase, which is the enzyme that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. DHT is known to be intrinsically involved in the male-pattern balding (androgenetic alopecia) pathology. By blocking some of the conversion of T-->DHT, male pattern balding has shown in clinical trials to be halted or reversed over a period of up to five years.

minoxidil is a hair stimulant, while propecia actually treats the "root" of the problem.

'at the end of the day' minoxidil and finasteride are the only two clinically proven treatments on the market, youve got to try them
first. good luck if you decide to,
