Since a couple monthes now my eyebrow hair has been steadily thinning and falling out and it's really worring me, as one of the things I used to deal with my scalp hairloss was...hey I might not have hair on my head to frame my face but at least I'll have my eyebrows to do so....and now I might not have that either....

I have already had my thyroid tested and the test results came out fine.

Do you guys recommend anything for people that are losing their eyebrow hair? What about Revivogen? Anyone out there with a success story?

Please share!

Good move checking your thyroid, as that is a rather severe symtom for hypothyroidism. Rather rare I think, from hypo. Keep in mind that even if the standard thyroid test "looks" normal it doesn't mean that that is really the case. The main thing is DO YOU HAVE THE SYMPTOMS of hypothyroidism such as feeling cold, weight gain or loss, appetite changes, etc (there are lots, google for them but keep in mind you won't have all of them because no one does). If you do have the symptoms you could still have something a bit more rare like auto-immune thyroid disease or t4->t3 conversion problems. It could also, of course, be something completely different (like say, an auto immune disease of a different nature).

I'd have to say that for a symtom so rare as that you really ought to seek good professional advice and find out what is going on, it would be a BAD IDEA (imho) to try to self medicate yourself out of this one.

What ever is going on though, you may be able to prevent further loss with n-acetylcysteine and perhaps 200mcg of selenium/day. When NAC is used with chemo it can sometimes prevent hair loss. Precursor to glutathione.

Just my two cents.

Ive always had THIN eyebrows all my life and ive had check-ups, physicals, ect, and everything is fine. Some people just have thin eyebrows. My hair is Brown and where there are no eyebrows i can see thin blond vellus hairs so im going to apply Spin Trap C, and minoxidil with Retin-A "lightly" to them to stimulate the growth. Dr.Lee said once they grow i wont have to apply anything to them because eyebrow hair doesnt disappear. For some reason some of mine just needed to be stimulated into growing normally. Who knows.

My eyebrows weren't naturally thin. I wouldn't say they were THICK THICK ..but they were def full to the point you couldn't see the skin underneath except around the edges. Right now it feels like have about half the hair density I used to and I dont' see an end to this in sight.

My doctor said to quit stressing about it and how he would refer me to a dermatalogist except that what he sees isn't drastic enough or a deformity for him to do so because in his opinion they'll just look at me and say I'm fine. I've explained to him taht I've had thicker eyebrows and what i have right now compared to what I had is very different...but I guess since the doctor has very thin eyebrows himself he doesnt' see a problem...frustrating to say the least...although there clearly is one to me and it's def got me very down. Maybe people whom haven't seen me before could look at me and think, ok he's always had naturally thin eyebrows....but the fact of the matter is I dont' and my eyebrows looked different then they do now.

I didn't think anything could be more devastating then losing my scalp hair at my age...but I was wrong. Losing your eyebrows is worse. My face looks different now as the eyebrows progressivley fall and thin out ...I'd much rather lose my scalp hair then lose my eyebrows.

As you can see this has really got me down and I'm rather frustrated that this is happening to me.

I guess I'm just venting.

Where can I find these things swami and do they have any side effects?

For those that have been through this please provide me some insight on this problem.

Anyways off to the gym I go and try to burn off some stress...

I'll just add that I also have noticed it is very easy to pull out my eyebrows now and my body hair too. My eyebrows don't seem thinner so I'm not sure if it was always this easy to pull my eyebrows out and I just noticed now or what. My doctor diagnosed me as having male pattern baldness without any bloodwork so I'm going to go to a different doctor soon to check for thyroid conditions, etc. I'll let you know what my Doctor says.

A good health food store will have them. NAC is also good in that it *may* help your hair grow faster. NAC converts to amino acid cysteine in the body and then finially to cystine which has some effect on hair growth. I guess the hair keratinocytes have a high cystine content or something. NAC and selenium is also good for raising serum glutathione which is the bodies strongest natural antioxidant. May help may not, but it can't hurt and should be pretty cheap.

You're taking the tried and true stuff like finasteride right?

Good luck.

You're DR is right not to "worry" about it, but still I hate that sh*t. It usually just means they don't know what the problem is and it doesn't seem serious to them (regardless of whether it is serious to you).

Hey Swami thanks for your help. Appreciate it. So. I was looking into NAC and I cant' find an instance or a site that explains to me how this might be beneficial for hair. If you dont' mind, can you please share where you learned this information from?

From the research I've done ...it actually does the opposite and decreases facial hair....

That's interesting. Didn't know that it had such a strong effect on androgens. Keep in mind different areas of the face (or the whole body for that matter) react differently to androgens. Example: a woman having high testosterone or DHT levels may get a slight (peach fuzz) mustache and beard but won't grow hair on her forehead.

For example in that post she also mentions:

"Hair that had started to fall out after taking antibiotics, started to grow back again."

I'm assuming she is talking about head hair there. That is a perfect example of what I'm taking about. Her chin hair was less but her head hair was more. I wouldn't worry about it. Give it a try and see if it helps. Rest assured that it can't hurt. NAC is very safe and very good for overall health. I really doubt it could make your problem worse.

Maybe if you guys would stop pulling your hair out you wouldent be going bald quite as fast. Everyone of you guys who is "losing hair" from vairous regions have also stated that the hair pulls out very easily. Did you ever stop to think that pulling your hair out is the reason it isnt growing back as fast?
