I went to my doctor's office a few days back to get a checkup because my health insurance will lapse by January first because I recently just turned 26 and can no longer be covered under my parents' insurance policy. I also kind of wanted to ask the doctor a few questions, and pick his brain a little about his experiences with men suffering from male pattern baldness. Anyway, he knew more than I thought he would. When he saw on my chart that I was taking Finasteride, he asked me about my experience with it, and I told him about feeling normal most of the time, but my lacking morning erections and watery semen quality. Just to be cautious, he ordered blood work for me.
Today, I got the results during our follow up. He had my levels from prior to taking finasteride, which were from the blood work my dermatologist ordered, as a baseline. Well, let's just say that my results were not good...really not good. Basically, my testosterone levels are in the toilet. I didn't really hear too much after that, other than that they can return back to normal after quitting the medication so long as I'm not one of the poor souls that will suffer from PFS. For the most part, I took from that visit that I tried my best on the big 3, caught it early, saw good improvements in thickness, and thought I just might be okay. But as we all know, you can try to fight back against life, and I thought I threw some good punches, but nothing hits as hard as life does. My hair follicles were just given a death sentence. Do I have cancer? No... but I'll certainly look like a cancer patient in a few short years when I'm shaving my head every other day. Spent a good hour staring at my bottle of finasteride pondering my next move before I ultimately flushed the remainder of them down the toilet. Don't even know if I'm going to bother trying RU, or even continuing minoxidil or keto treatments for that matter. Guess I'll be asking for a lot of hats for Christmas.
