Looks like my itch is under control now :)

Hi guys,

It's been about 5 days since I have had any problematic itching and/or irritation on my scalp.

I attribute this success to Head & Shoulders 2-in-1 'Sensitive Care w/ Aloe'... and I have stopped using Folligen (dilluted), as it was making my scalp really irritated for some reason.

I have also been using my Nizoral 2x weekly for its known benefits. I may bump it up to 3x weekly soon, if I feel that my scalp can tolerate it. I may also add in some Tricomin again pretty soon. I ran out.

Things are getting under control over here. This has to be a positive thing!

Now, if I could get some regrowth that would be great.. but I'm going to wait til my 2 year mark on finasteride (sometime around July/August 2006), before deciding to add minoxidil to my regimen. I'm afraid minoxidil will irritate the hell out of things again, so if/when I decide to go on it, I will probably use Dr. Lee's version for the reduced PPG content.. I think that makes sense.

I have a strong hairline still, and my thinning is most noticable on the very far back left area of my crown (the thinnest spot, almost a small circle). Otherwise the top is good on the right side, with a bit of thinning in a 'line-like pattern' on the left side. It's a weird pattern and I will just call it diffuse to make things easy.

I went through a bottle of Fruit of the Earth 100% Aloe vera gel, which I squished all into my scalp and styled my hair with, but now that bottle is gone and I'm back using Blood of the Dragon hair gel for styling. I think both items are top notch, for scalp and hair health.. they are all natural anyway, and I appreciate the break from harsh chemicals as I feel my shampoo regimen gives me plenty!

I have also been taking a 50mg Zinc supplement from GNC. I don't know if this makes a difference.

Basically, nizoral and H&S are the ONLY 2 shampoos I'm going to use for now, since things seem to have calmed down A LOT on my scalp. When I say calmed down, I mean I haven't had any pin-prick feelings on my thinnest crown spot, and I haven't had any sensations of itch throughout the entire day/night. This makes me very happy!

:)

Whatever it takes,

That's good news Misterium.

Folligen definitely irritated my scalp too but I love Tricomin.

Have you tried NANO shampoo? I rotate it with Nizoral and it's good for the scalp too as it also contains SOD.

Thanks for stopping in for a comment global :)

I agree, Tricomin is 100 times better than Folligen in my opinion. Tricomin soothes my scalp where as Folligen just inflamed it.

I have not tried NANO, but would like to.

Where can I get it?

The Tricomin has a more soothing effect than Folligen because Tricomin contains menthol, which is a cooling topical anesthetic.

If your scalp likes the menthol in Tricomin, and many scalps crave menthol, then perhaps you might consider picking up some T/Gel "Anti Itch" formula because it is packed with menthol. If your itch is truly mediated with menthol, this T/Gel formulation should really kill it!

...also you can get H&S with menthol.

Folligen did the same for me, could never use the stuff with consistant results, some nights it was soothing other nights it irritated my skin very badly.

Thanks for the heads up misterium, need to go and find some of that H&S aloe.
