I have always had straight. fine hair but plenty of it as some barbers would tell me. It would be fly away in the wind though.

I did not notice any receding hairline or thinning until about maybe my late 30's. In my mid forties I noticed some thinning on top and the hairline receded in my fifties. I am 59 now and the Vertex has thinned and I was told a couple of days ago that my crown is bald. I have short hair (grade 3 or 4) on the sides and back and comb the top back, this almost covers the bald spot but when it is windy out apparently to my horror my bald spot shows.

I did try topical Minoxidil for a few months in my late forties but I started to get headaches and found it a hassle to use and it made my pillows oily. The headaches stopped when I stopped using Minoxidil.

I would like the transplanted hairs to be integrated into the thinning areas so as to avoid the donut look.
Also I understand that finer needles (like 0.5mm to 0.63mm or a 23 gauge) would be needed for my fine hair and single hairs at the hairline to make it look more natural.

I will post some pictures but they do not show the full extent, I think it looks worse in real life.
