Hi guys!

I'm 27 years old, I cut my hair pretty short for the first time in a few years and that's when I noticed a slight thinning of the hair at one side of my hairline. It's nothing major (it's a bit more apparent in "real" when compared to the picture attached), but I do know that some of my family members developed male pattern baldness in their early thirties, and so I figured might as well start doing something about it now before it develops into something more visible.

I do experience a bit of itching at the hairline now and then, so my first order of business after doing some searching over here was to buy Nizoral (waiting for delivery), which I'll start using once every 3 days as suggested on this website.

My question is: what additional compound should I use in order to prevent further thinning of the hair? I'm not particularly interested in regrowing the hair, though it would be an added bonus if this could happen slowly over a longer period of time (years). I would just want to prevent further thinning/hair loss as much as possible, while also not spending too much money (though this is a secondary concern).

I've read the guide on this website and have an idea as to what compounds are available, however I wanted to get an opinion from the experienced people over here, particularly concidering that I'm at a very early stage of things, so maybe this makes a difference as to what I should be using?

Oh and I also know my total and free testosterone levels to be in the middle of the healthy range, if it makes a difference.

Thank you!

I'm somewhat of a newbie on this forum, but from my experience it is hard to say if its really male pattern baldness or just how your hairline is, I think most people would need to see a comparison between this photo and an older one to say for sure. That being said, you understand your appearance better than anyone and there is certainly some recession there. In your case, if you are worried, i think Nizoral and Finasteride would be the way to go, to have slight recession at 27 isn't a bad situation. You could combine nizoral a few times a week with a low dose of finasteride ED or EOD (if you have quite slow progressive hairloss EOD may be sufficient + saves money) and I think you would have a good chance of maintenance and in the long term, potentially a small amount of regrowth right in the corners of the hairline (i.e. the most recent hair to weaken). Like I said im quite new to posting (not new to hairloss, treatment or forums however) but i think this is a realistic goal.
