Looking for a Propecia Substitute

We all know that Propecia works in reversing some of the hair loss but then it has its side effects, not to mention the over-dependency on Propecia and sudden/more hair loss on its discontinuation.

Is there any good alternative to Propecia that really works in reversing the hair loss? And has lesser side-effects.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You might try topical revivogen or advecia and/or pro.cerin per oral. Do so with understanding that neither has been evaluated or approved by the FDA as a hair loss treatment. I sincerely doubt that any of these have the clinical efficacy that propecia has... 80+% retain or gain hair...

I would encourage you to strongly consider Propecia. The side effects are rare, transient, or if need-be can be reversed with discontinuation of the drug. A select .01 percent get long-term sequelae according to propeciahelp.com, although Merck's studies did not demonstrate this phenomenon. I have been taking the drug since Tuesday and have had no obvious side effects... I've still performed as usual when necessary with my SO in the sack :)

Ive been on propecia for 2 months- the only side effects was an increase in sex drive during the first week or two & acne, both of which have mostly subsided. (except for the acne which has yet to fully go away)

If there exists an effective, safe alternative to Propecia, it's still unknown. Otherwise I suppose we'd all be using it. I can suggest you try Revivogen or Proxiphen (or both), but I don't believe they are as effective as finasteride.

I'm having good results with finasteride so far, but if a few years down the line my results started to waver, I would probably consider adding Revivogen to have both systemic and topical DHT inhibition. By itself though, I'm not sure it would be effective enough, and certainly not comparable to finasteride or dutasteride.

Some natural substances that appear to block the conversion of testosterone to DHT by 5AR are Saw Palmetto Extract, Pygeum Africanum Extract, Beta Sitosterol amongst others. Their supposed to act in a similar fashion to Propecia with less chance of side effects. So I guess that using products that contain these ingredients could help combat hair loss.

The clinical efficacy of the above mentioned are probably not that of an FDA approved drug like Propecia but might well be worth investigating further.

I don't think of any drug that has less than 2% side effects  Secondly, you do not lose more hair than you would have otherwise after discontinuing it.
