Only found a few posts relative to the use of oral minoxidil./Loniten. Would be interested to know if anyone has/is used/using the oral form of minoxidil. and what type of results it has yielded, if any.

I would not have considered this 20 years ago, but alas, I've developed mild hypertension, requiring medication. Doctor. feels any low dose anti-hypertensive will do, so naturally, being the ever vigilant follicle hound that I am, I figured why not oral minoxidil.?

......anyway, hoping someone else, other than test patients, have blazed this trail already. I've been the guniea pig for enough hair meds.! ...............................but if duty calls, I may once again venture forth.

(Actually, speaking of test patients, if someone has a link to the original double blinds for Loniten for hypertension, I would be interested in that info. also.)

Hey x! Sorry I left mid-chat last night. Was late for meeting up with some friends. There was one guy who tried oral loniten. He used to come here and was a frequent chatter and poster. Im not sure if it was "Fuzz" or one other guy.

Thanks HairLossTalk.com. I'll look. My big concern is my poor history with topical Minoxidil. Tried so many variations, strengths, delivery agents, etc., and ALWAYS experienced extremely protracted sheds. Actually, they may have been more than protracted since I always stopped when too much scalp began to show. They may have been the dreaded "Perpetual Shed". I was not going to wait until Hair Club came calling, to see! Anyway, I am wondering if that type of shedding would be experienced with the oral version. I don't know if the minoxidil. was causing the "Perpetual Sheds" or the scalp irritation was. I think it quite reasonable to assume that it is possible the oral form could yield benefit w/out the unreasonable shed.

P.S. - No problem with the Chat last night. It gave me a chance to speak/write ,one on one, with a young man (19) agonizing over his hair loss. I wish a resource such as this site exsisted when I started losing my hair at 17. It provides more than just a place to share information, it also provides a place for empathy and the "lifting up" of those who are starting on the path of hair loss and those who are continuing down the path. You've done a real good thing here HairLossTalk.com, more than you probably realize. Kudos to you.
