Two years ago I switched from finasteride to dutasteride after 10+ successful years on finasteride, and I experienced massive hair loss due to Telogen Effluvium. Then I doubled down on the dosage a year ago, 1mg of dutasteride per day, my Telogen Effluvium has since subsided. Now that my hair loss has stabilized, I'm wondering if it would be okay to drop back to 0.5mg per day.

I don't know what happened when I was taking 0.5mg, but with 1mg, I had a very good result. I mainly concern for the long term effect on my liver, since I'm going to stick with dutasteride for the next 20 years for sure.

If you're a long time dutasteride user, what dosage are you taking?

Dutasteride is dose dependent so you may lose a little of your gains, but I see no reason why the standard dose wouldn't work out. You may experience another Telogen Effluvium, but I'm not sure how much of a hormonal swing removing 0.5mg daily will cause.

So, are you taking 0.5mg daily? Have you tried 1mg before?

Why did you switch to dutasteride if you had 10+ successful years on finasteride?

Because I was greedy, I never reseached the topic before, just taking finasteride everyday as prescriped. Then I learned dutasteride which is supposedly better, so I switched. Big mistake, but since I've already switched, I just sticked with dutasteride, and never looked back.

Are you having better results with the 1mg dutasteride than the finasteride? Did you regrow the hair initially from the shed?

If I could have chosen again, I'd have never switched. I can't say if dutasteride is better, seem like it, but I can't say for sure. Sometimes when my hair is oily, it looks like sh*t. When my hair is not oily, it looks nice and thick.

I just started with 0,15 mg dutasteride (never took propecia before) and it feels my hair thinned out a little bit.

Have been using it for 1.5 week. And haven't got any sides yet. Hope it will thicken up again.

Anyone same experiences?
