I'm 19 years old and I was diagnosed a few months ago with male pattern baldness. I've noticed something that I told to my doctor that laugh at me. My question is : is there a link between the shape of your forehead and male pattern baldness? I explain myself. A few months ago when I start to lose my hair, I've noticed that it was preceded by a change in the shape of my forehead : two bumps appears in the middle and two lines or holes are reaching the side. It's a very agrresive shape that makes feel I'm going to be bald very fast. I can give you some examples of celebrities who have this shape and started to lose their hair very early such as prince william, pablo puyol, tony blair... I've noticed that in the university where I'm studying, a great part of the young people like me who are becoming bald have this shape of forehead. My cousin started to lose his hair at 17 and he has this shape of forehead whereas his brother who is 30 has got a full head of thick hairs and he hasn't got this shape of forehead.
Here are the links for : pablo puyol, tony blair, prince william

it could be an illusion.....because there is no scientific proof of link between forehead and hair loss

probably their receding hairlines may cause the illusion

It may be a symptom of the ageing process, in general. Skin gets more thin as we get old, revealing more of the underlying bone and muscle structure.

i have noticed that as well not gonna lie...it looks like 2 big bumps on the sides of the forehead.

That could have been hidden though by hair before the person started going bald

These forehead changes are due to increases in the local tissue fluid pressure (edema).

In my opinion in the frontal loss in male pattern baldness, the edema that causes it builds from the forehead upwards. As it hits the hairline, the hair begins to receed backwards.

These forehead changes are a good indicator of future male pattern baldness in my opinion.

Search for "pitting edema test" and try this in various areas of the forehead. You will find it interesting.

Here are other pics that show the shape of forehead I'm talking about :

I hope I'm wrong. Maybe it's my mind who is playing me some tricks. I think it may have a link with a category of male pattern baldness that occurs just after puberty between 18 and 20 or maybe before when the forehead start its metamorphosis... As i had my puberty very late (17) my forehead get that shape just when I reached my 19. My forehead was good before that then all of a sudden it changed and that thing was already depressing me. I wasn't thinking that the worst wasn't far. Sorry for my english... I'm not a native speaker.

I agree with what TheGardener says...although this picture really isn't the best relevant example let me explain

Adriana Lima...superstar model...I picked her because it gives a sexy lesson...but anyhoo...you can sort of see the same type of forehead in her...does that look bald to you...HELLLLNOOOOOO!! and...as my mom told me...who works in comsetics...women's face is roughly 24% thinner then men's...which is why men have such rugged good looks for life our thicker skin tends to endure aging much better....than being said Im going to have to take a guess, and just say that for whatver reason be it stasticially coincident or significant, it may just be...

the only link between your forehead and hairloss is that it gets bigger as the male pattern baldness gets more severe

Here is another link with Nicolas Cage :

I try to convice myself that there is no link but they are many proofs of people loosing their hair quite fast and very young who have this shape of forehead. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wanted to share it with you so that maybe one day if they find the real reson that causes male pattern baldness...

I have two depression areas at the side of my foreheads..Is that what u are talking bout? I thought it was always there and the receding hair is now exposing it. Maybe its on everyones head but ofcourse we will see it only on heads with no hair on it.

I have an alternate theory which I think is more likely than yours: the forehead changes are caused by the secret surgical implantation of tracking/homing devices by extraterrestrials.

I think if you shaved down guys will full heads of hair you would find similar "deformations" of the head/forehead as you can in bald guys.

Well there goes your lack of scientific skills again Bryan

Forehead edema can be tested for as i described. Your "extraterrestrial" theory is just an untestable wild guess, like your follicle genetic "clock" fantasy.
