1. Laser comb (3 times a week)
2. revivogen shampoo/head and shoulders
3. propecia (.5 mgs)
4. low sugar diet
5. constand exfoliation
6. apple cider vinegar
7. would like to use a topical DHT inhibitor that doesn't kill my scalp (haven't found a good one yet.

Still no success...loosing tons of hair every day.

Nah it may not work for you, dandruff is like that. First of all you can't beat it. It's almost guarenteed you're going to have flare ups no matter how good you think you're doing.

I'm in the same boat though i've been fighting it for like 8 years.

I noticed you didn't put nizoral on your regimen. If it doesnt irritate you scalp I would reccomend the 2%. It wont cure it, but if you use it 3 times a week and dont overuse it it will help... at least it should.

You can also get a steroid lotion prescribed by your doctor (I used Locoid lotion). I use it and it helps when my scalp gets dry and flakey. Don't use it too much though, i've read that, like most dandruff treatments, your body will eventually get used to it and it will be less effective.

There seems to be two kinds of dandruff (at least that i get). One is the big flakes and nizoral usually takes care of that, then i get tiny dry skin flakes (locoid lotion usually helps with that).

Also I read to try and take out as much yeast from your diet as possible. I saw you reduce sugar intake, that is good.

I don't know what else to do other than that and what you already do. The rest of the treatments or cures seem like voodoo bullshit and none of it will really do anything, at least not in the long term. Like I said in another thing you posted, Tea Tree Oil did jack sh*t for me.

Um... washing with cold water actually helps or at least it's helping me. Hot water will dry out your scalp.

Also, as stupid as it sounds, if its a school night and i'm not going out, I dunk my head in ice water to reduce scalp itch, increase circulation to my scalp, and decrease my urge to scratch.

Head and Shoulders also has a soothing lotion that works well for reducing itch, though most likely its not going to help with the flakes, just make you less prone to scratch it.

Sorry if all this is scattered and sloppy. I wrote it all as it came to mind. Good luck.

awesome, fallicule...i also use freezing cold head showers, i have also tried topical cortisone...maybe helped but seemed to increase shedding... i am really iffy about nizoral...i always found it made me shed a ton more hair, so i shy away from it. however...i don't really have dandruff in the traditional sense...this is like some kind of crazy cellular build up on my scalp. i have also been thinking about trying a b6/zinc combination. anyway...thanks for the help

Yeah I have it rediculously, too. I've been going to the doctor for it for like 3 years. The sh*t gets out of control. Do you notice it going away ever though, and coming back? Even before I put so much effort into treating it I always went through peroids of time when it would stop, sometimes even completely. That's why I never know if what im doing to combat it is working or if its just in a off phase. I also found that mine is greatly affected by the weather. In colder months my dandruff is on a whole other level, in the summer sometimes its non existant.

by the way...

5. constand exfoliation

what is that?

exfoliation just means always digging the build up away on my scalp with my finger nails. it gets bad when there is excessive build up. Ya, i think there are lots of different factors and that the treatments are sometimes coincidental...sometimes they don't do anything. i've read it is a great idea to cut down on sugars and yeast and take like 15mgs of zinc every day for 2 weeks. Some say it completely went away. I'm going to try and start using vinegar half hour before a shower...shampoo with a good anti-sebum/DHT shampoo and then applying a Zix concotion. See how that works!
