All right. For all of the men who have been putting off and have been too scared to try finasteride. Let's start it together as a group. Obviously some people need time to get their prescriptions and orders in. We should start at the same day and keep a journal and compare notes for comparison. We shall call it finasteride day 2014.

Use the rogaine app on your phone to monitor your progress. Then take a birds eye view of your Norwood each week.

Post here or private message me if you want in. I'm ready when you guys are!

Lol I was on it for 8.5 years and quit because of scare mongering. I've tried going back on it 3 times since then but quit after 1 to 4 pills because I would read about all of the negative effects it can have. This time around I've read enough to not be so worried about sides and can positively reflect on the 8.5 years I did
take it. Any negative effects I may have had while on it I can easily explain from other factors in my life at the time. Now the idea of saving my hair and seeing what finasteride can do now that I've lost more hair gives me hope. I'm just looking for others like me that have been on the fence that want to take the plunge together. Kind of give each other support and debunk any hallucinatory sides we may be having.

I just know there are a lot of people on the fence and are hesitant about taking finasteride. Some even have the pills but just haven't started taking them because of the fear of side effects. I know ventures was planning on starting it soon and others I've talked to. We might as well all start it together.

I'll get onboard, it will be a week though until I expect to get finasteride.
Just waiting on the banks

You are certainly welcome to. I've seen you posts. I just wanted to get all of us that have been debating it for a while now to join up together and take the plunge together. I think it will be less worrisome that way if we just all try together.

I have been on it for 3 days. I haven't been on the fence or put it off as such, I just wanted branded propecia for fear of getting a dodgy batch with a generic brand, but since I'm a just a student branded propecia is pretty expensive so I put it off for a long time for that reason only, I'm not one to get scared over fear mongering. :p But over the last year my hair deterioted further and I decided to just get the hell on it as soon as I handed my dissertation in last week.

So far I haven't had any negative side effects. I took several photos under good lighting 2 days ago of my baseline. I'll make a diary thread in a few months when I have something to compare them with, no point in uploading them otherwise. I'll be sure to post a reply here with a link to the thread. :)

Omg dude, you change your mind as wind blows...
3 days ago you say "**** stupid hair", propecia is bad, affects the brain, and now what?
But you are not to blame.
finasteride is on the market for almost 20 years, if it was to have such bad and frequent sides, they would have banned it already.
That "pfs" may be only in most people's minds.

im on my second month of finasteride I only had sides the first week but now they have seemed to have disappeared completely and my sex drive is higher than ever. the first two weeks on finasteride I experienced brain fog and just a weird feeling. I also had some sexual sides but I feel like those were all in my head because I tend to freak out and convince myself theres something wrong with me u can call me a bit of a hypochondriac. It is actually pretty crazy what the mind can make u think. But what I can tell u is the brain fog symptoms and other non sexual sides I experienced were def way to real to be just my imagination but then again these sides only last for a few days in my second or third week on the drug and have completed vanished with my sex drive being at a all time high hahaa. I don't plan to quit this drug anytime soon as my hair is very important to me I am also on rogaine foam once a day.

That's what happens when you are 50 / 50 on something. But I realize my hair is very much salvageable at its current condition. I'm realizing the truth behind the Pfs stuff is all on the Internet. There's no real Pfs evidence outside forums and online so its most likely for the most part not true. I think the real Pfs problem is the propeciahelp forum and the Pfs foundation. They brainwash people into thinking they've harmed themselves despite evidence that the drug is safe. I'm on board dreamer. Just be happy with that.

You made it through the period many people can't make it through. The rate of side effects is way higher in people that were told the drug causes sides. If you weren't aware of them they probably wouldn't have been noticeable or nonexistent. There is undoubtedly an adjustment period on the drug. For most many men don't even notice it. But yes we are of the hypochondriacs. Knowing that is half the battle.

I've been on finasteride (+nofap:) ) for 3 months now, no minoxidil, with great results, I guess I'm a good responder.
I plan to post some pics soon. It will blow you away

Can't wait to see the results. Have you noticed less scalp itch? I can't remember when that went away for me. It might have been a couple years before any scalp itch stopped completely. However I'm sure it decreased while taking finasteride.

I'm now on day 10 of propeica. As far as side effects go, I had minor sexual sides during first week which have now disappeared completely (although morning erections seem to now be more frequent and much stronger...!). I have also started sleeping for only 6 hours a day down from 8-9 hours. I have no idea if this is because of finasteride but I seem to have more energy than before. Maybe to do with it being warmer recently & hence easier to get out of bed?

Anyway the main reason I am posting now is the shedding seems to have already kicked in. I definitely wasn't going through a shed before I started, I wouldn't notice a single hair on my desk, even with long hair (i have since had it cut)... I've just noticed loads of hair on my desk and it appears when i run my hand through my hair, some hairs are falling out so it definitely looks like a shed but I thought the shed doesn't happen until after a month or so :S

P.S. last time I had a shed (which I believe was a natural shed) was around october last year if that means anything.

Never took any medications, until 3 years ago I went almost completely bald. Got a Hairtransplant FUE in Turkey 2.5 years ago, great results, but started to notice that the hair slowly starts to fall out and I notice difference in number of hairs. So I'm feeling really frustrated and afraid of not going bald again. Today finally I went to dermatologist, she looked at my scalp and said it's Androgenetic and prescribed me Propecia and Minoxidil 5%. I bought from the farmacy Propecia pills, here in Romania there are no Finasteride, but the package is called just "Propecia" by Merck Sharp & Dohme. I'm really afraid of taking them, but hope someone here can encourage me.

Propecia is finasteride. Its the brand name of it. I use this product myself given to me by my doctor. Its completely safe to use. My box says PROPECIA (finasteride), same as this box on the link below.

So... Did anyone stick to finasteride? I'm on month 6 now, crown and top have thickened up quite nicely, but only a minor improvement on the temples, but widows peak has noticeably improved. My hair only started to noticeably improve on month 5 and has been improving rapidly since. But up until month 5 there wasn't much happening. Will take some photos and post them soon.

As for side effects, they all disappeared after the first 1-2 months.
