and he passes it to his son and his son goes bald, would the grandfather also pass this baldness to his grandson through his daughter?

The grandfather passed this to his son and he can only give his son a Y chromosome.

Since the grandfather's daughter inherits an X chromosome from the grandfather, would the grandson (his daughter's son) go bald or not?

male pattern baldness is caused by many different genes in many different parts of the genome. It is a very complex hereditary condition. We must also not rule out the role of epigenetic factors. If your grandfather went bald, you have an increased chance of going bald too, but there have not been enough studies done to give a close estimate of the percentage likelihood. Baldness can be passed on to a son through his mother from her father, just as it can though a father to his son. As I say, it is a complex condition that cannot be narrowed down to any specific gene. Certain genes are known to be important, however, such as the androgen receptor gene on the X chromosome.
