Alright my fellow balding bretheren, this thread is solely focused on SUPPLEMENTING what we all know works. so the big three, minoxidil, finasteride, and nizoral is what should be the staple of every balding person's regimen. but my question is, what are some other stuff to take that is risk free and could supplement those three? when i say risk free i mean affordable and no crazy side effects.

for example, i take saw palmetto capsules with my finasteride...it costs 10 bucks for 60 pills and although it isnt proven to treat male pattern baldness, cant hurt to add it on my current regimen. another is regenepure shampoo....it contains emu oil, saw palmetto extract, caffeine, all which isnt clinically proven to help hairloss but has a bit of consistent support behind it. green tea is also something i drink everyday....believed to me great for maintaining healthy hair and as a bonus helps with weightloss. and notice everything i list is affordable and either already healthy for you or free of side effects. as far as nofap goes, thats impossible for me to do but i did tone it down a bit. i know alot of naysayers are against it but dont you guys think theres a chance that since our follicles are sensitive to testosterone, when we jerk off it could enhance hairloss in some way? keep in mind our hair follicles are different than non balding guys meaning they could do it 10 times a day and not worry but our hairs are genetically designed to weaken from dht.

but anyways, is there any other oral or topical supplements, natural food, etc that COULD be beneficial to add to the big 3?

biotin?...many use it.
fish oils contain long chain fatty acids which are very good for your health in general..cardiovascular system, vision etc but may be good for your hair..they also contain antioxidants such as tocopherol
piroctone olamine (shampoo) was found to be beneficial in some studies
I use caffeine shampoo and find it useful

yes, i used to take fish oil but for some reason when i ran out i was too lazy to restock. will restock on fish oil because i remember two bottles of it waslike 20 bucks at costco.

I just researched biotin and here's an excerpt: [h=3]How Does Biotin Work for Hair Growth?[/h]Hair growth and biotin are related closely. Biotin not only promotes healthy hair growth but also prevents hair dryness. Moreover, biotin also increases the elasticity of cortex of a hair, thereby, preventing and minimizing hair breakage. Therefore, biotin helps induce growth of both hair and new skin cells, and making them healthy. For people who are suffering from hair loss, taking extra biotin may aid their hair grow longer, healthier and thicker.

i know it says MAY aid hair, but anything at this point to assist the big three i will add on. 7 bucks on amazon for 100 capsules...no harmful side effects...another good supplement im going to throw in.

any other topical or oral treatments?

You really could make a big list of things you could add to the big three. The question has always been how much do any of them really help because they vary by price, sides, and things like that. I mean topical spironolactone cant hurt to try something topically targeting the receptors but does topical spironolactone actually penetrate and work without sides? How about the many supplements like saw palmetto or beta sis that might help a little or not at all? You could keep going really and its hard to say they dont do anything for anyone so they might help

i believe saw palmetto, fish oil, caffeine, etc etc mixed with the big three has the biggest effect on people who have a head of hair but are in the early stages of male pattern baldness. topical spironolactone is something i was interested in....whats the price, sides, possibility of shedding, etc if anyone knows?

After reading this guys regimen (page 2) http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/showthread.php/85991-9-months-big-3-good-progress I'm using/about to use:

Biotin
MSM
Silica
Collagen
Omega 3
Lysine

Royal Jelly
Multivitamine
Vitamine B

Pretty harmless I think and the top 6 are all in some way related to healthy hair or increased hair growth and i believe Royal Jelly has some associations with hair health as well. No noticeable results yet though, but it has only been a week.

What do you think?

I'm new so I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong place, I just wanted to see what people think of my regiment? I'd really like to stay away from propecia and finasteride for awhile, maybe somthing natural to add? Also recently started taking 160mg of saw daily

I'm not on finasteride but I am on nizoral and minoxidil. I also use a topical anti-androgen. And they do work. So if your looking for an extra boost over just finasterade they might be worth trying. Revivogen, RU58841, fluridil, topical spironolactone: being what I use. (Not all at once). I don't really like spironolactone it doesn't give me any sides. But the cream leaves a noticeably "cream in your hair" look. I've also spent ages rubbing that into my crown with mirrors. When a liquid in a dropper or spray can be done in seconds. So I've put that aside for now.
