Hi, there. This'll be pretty straightforward. I've been on Finasteride (ultra cheap generic that I get from Walmart for $9; it's great) for a little over 1.5 months. I've already noticed pretty significant results and I'd like to share.

Attached below are the before and after photos. The first photo is from May 11th, the first day of finasteride. The second photo is from today (June 30th).

You may be able to notice my hair looks healthier. It certainly looks and feels healthier to me. And of course the crown is filling in nicely. If you're wondering if I'm parting it in any particular way, I am not. The May 11th picture was with longer hair (I received a haircut on May 16th) and the June 30th picture is with very short hair (I received another haircut on June 28th). I couldn't hide anything if I wanted to.

I would share my hairline, but 1. There are gains that are noticeable to me, but I don't think they'd come off that way in a photo. 2. My haircut probably makes it look worse, I don't know. So I'll wait a few months on that.

What do y'all think? If you haven't tried finasteride, I highly recommend it. If you live in the US, Walmart is the cheapest I have found.

I'm 21 years old, and I have noticed no sides that would be significant enough for me to think twice about the drug. I noticed a couple weeks ago it was a bit more difficult to get and maintain an erection, but that seems to no longer be a problem. No issues with libido or testicular pain or any of the other side effects that are most frequently reported.

Looks good, how long have you been thinning before starting the finasteride?

My sides were very minor until 7 months in. I hope you don't get bad sides brother. Sucks for me I have to quit, because finasteride works so damn well.

Hey Rhinestone, can you describe your experience with finasteride, not the sides but what you mention when you say it worked damn well?

Oliver510, I had been thinning probably for about two to three years. Last I recall my hair looking ideal was right when I turned 19. Since then it has been a rather slow but noticeable decline. I'd notice clumps of hair in my comb every single day. My hair felt brittle and thin. My hairline has yet to return to where it was when I was 19 (albeit, not bad), but everything else is pretty much there and I have no doubt that the line will come back in.

RhinestoneHLT, thanks man. I hope I don't get terrible side effects, but honestly I don't know what it would take to get me off finasteride. I'd rather lose my libido in all honesty. It's not so much that I really love my hair that much, I just can do without a hyperactive drive. Let me ask you though: after 7 months on finasteride, how long did it take for you to notice your hair start thinning again (if you've reached that point yet)? I wondered how long it takes to recognize that it's no longer in your body.

MONTH 2 UPDATE:

Not a whole lot to say since I last posted. But I've reached Month 2 and figured I'd put up a Day 1 and Month 2 photo comparison. Again, no sides noticeable enough to comment on. Enjoying life. Working and looking forward to college classes in the fall again. Blah blah.
