Learn from my mistake

I was a thin NW1 my only real problem was my crown. Decided to test minoxidil for a few months on the right side only. Now I'm a nw2 at the very least on my right side while my left side is still a decent nw1. I see no regrowth. I'm scared to stop minoxidil there now because I want regrowth. That and I'm getting water retention sides. My forehead is getting very wrinkly looking but it's not wrinkly in frown lines or normal wrinkles but instead there's dent like depressions where the 2 bones meet going vertical up my forehead which looks terrible.

So guys If you're only slilghtly thinning don't use minoxidil on the hairline. Jump on finasteride. Don't make the mistake i did :(

I don't know what to do. Do i continue with minoxidil in the hope regrowth occurs, Do i quit cold turkey to save my forehead and possibly prevent further minoxidil loss at the right temple?
I wish i had tried finasteride first.

you don't know what you are talking about, you don't know how minoxidil works and you don't know what to expect using minoxidil and you don't know anything about hair cycles/how male pattern baldness works.

I recommend anyone who reads this does not take his advice.....

stay on the minoxidil and start finasteride. And use it on both sides

Not everyone is going to experience the same as yourself. Most success stories involve both minoxidil and finasteride. I think people should give minoxidil a try and see how they react. I too shed a lot on minoxidil and it does cause water retention or facial bloating, more acne, and enhances the forehead lines on my forehead. I have gone on and off it many times and every time, the same things happens. If I use 2 percent every other day it is less obvious but it can cause sides for some.

In your case, you experienced a synchronized shed which caused you to lose more hair than normal. Once your cycles become more stable, it will be less obvious. Minoxidil does thicken hair and does enhance growth. However, you have to go thru a shed before this happens. Most of the minoxidil users have no issues. Just like the finasteride users. If you have undesirable sides, then don't use it. But I would never advise people not to at least try something that could be beneficial to them.

Mate what is your problem? You are constantly shutting people down and pushing your agenda. Finasteride has side effects and so does minoxidil stop denying everything that people post it's a frigging insult. I'm glad your treatment works for you, but dude you have to be more respectful and realise that everyone reacts to treatments differently.

he deserves being put down for giving "advice" that a proven treatment "doesn't work" when he doesn't know ****

Don't know ****? I know about shedding But not all hairs are in the same growth cycle, After being on minoxidil for 4-6 months now I should be experiencing some regrowth however It's the complete opposite. On the side I'm using minoxidil on iv'e gone from a nw1 to a norwood 2 while the other side is still a norwood 1. I know the forehead sides I'm experiencing may be connected to either minoxidil's water rentention or collegen depletion or both. I never said minoxidil doesn't work, In fact it's working on my crown quite nicely so perhaps before jumping to conclusions you should learn to read. I'm reporting my experience with Minoxidil so far as something to factor in for people who were in my position with realitively good hairlines who were just noticing thinning. Piss off.

I didn't say don't go on it at all I simply suggest go on finasteride first to see if finasteride alone can get you desirable results. I'm going to post pics of my forehead within the next day. minoxidil is working on my crown but on my forehead and the side of my hairline i used it on, Total disaster. Not sure what to do.

You're getting the weird forehead stuff too? Why slowly quiting? Is going off minoxidil slowly better than cold turkey?

Yes... I really am not sure, but if theres a chance it might help then ill do it that way.

Read this. I think for SOME people it can actually harm their hair. But it DOES WORK for the most...
