I'm not saying unhealthy living causes male pattern baldness. We all agree male pattern baldness is genetic, but there are publications in the field that point to unhealthy lifestyle contributing to hairloss.

Someone that has the male pattern baldness genes will go thin at one stage in his life. This is where being healthy can have an effect and slow the process down. I am not saying being healthy will immunise me against hairloss.

This is a bit like saying, we are all going to die sooner or later, but the ones that have a healthy lifestyle are statistically more likely to live longer.

Not to any point where its worth altering your lifestyle of course I cant really prove that but niether can I prove that the tooth fairy does'nt exist.
The fact is if you are going to be a NW6 theres no dietry or lifestyle change that can alter that even if there is something in all these stupid theories I'd say that they will have at most a 2/3% difference theres noway that someone who is destined to be a NW4/5 at 30 is going to delay it until he's 40 just by having a healthy lifestyle.
All these dumbass theories are just the clutching at straws by desparate young men. When I was going bald in my early 20's I got all kinds of stupid advise like stop stressing out and you'll stop losing hair or eat more protein it'll make your hair grow, shave it off it'll grow back thicker ..... ect ect.
Its all a load of :jackit: . And there are countless examples of men around to prove these theories wrong, its like telling a short kid to take up basketball if he wants to grow.
Still as long as there are young guys going bald and desperatly wondering what they can do to change it these stupid ideas will still keep floating around.

We all at some point want to transform what is beyond our total control to something tangible, a "visible enemy", like a bad habit, a specific incident, a hat, our bad luck. We need one enemy. And then voila! Problem solved.

King believe it or not everyone is trying to help you here.

:)

If you truly believe your hair loss is from lack of sleep then I suggest you take a nap and see a doctor because I am sure you have other issues.

Like I said...there would be entire job classes of people without hair if this was a common problem so in turn yours would be a severe issue.

Same with the old 'stress' theory every soldier returning from Iraq or Afghanistan would be bald.

I've read that stress can cause scalp tension, making the hair break off at the skin. In that case, once the stress would be alleviated, the hair would simply continue growing.

i think i probley said it the wrong way what i ment to say is if you have a history of balding or thinning .......eating junk food , lack of sleep and all of that will just make your hair fall sooner then later

I think we all agree male pattern baldness is genetic, including king. But what I believe is that if your hair is already genetically programmed to be sensitive to things like your hormones, DHT, etc, then it may be sensitive to an unhealthy lifestyle as well. If you are genetically doomed to male pattern baldness, then smoking, drug use, unhealthy diet, etc might just get you to that NW7 a few years quicker.

Yeah absolutely. Now that King better positioned his statement I think everyone will agree with what he was trying to get at.

Unhealthy lifestyle just wrecks your body.

There is a lady I work with who is in her early mid 40's. She smokes heavily, rail thin, I have never seen her eat anything healthy...not once...and she looks like she is in her 60's.

Speaking of smoking, have you ever seen a smoker's hair? Not so much hair but more like straw. I don't know if it is just tar buildup weighing it down (smoking in enclosed areas) or if the follicle itself has taken tar, nicotine, & carbon monoxide damage. Tests have actually have shown nicotine to be in the proteins of peoples' hair. No way it can possibly be doing your hair any favors. I quit the lungdarts myself.

I stopped smoking 4 years ago. Best thing I ever did for myself.

Oh and yeah...her hair looks awful. I feel terrible trashing this lady because she is such a nice person but its fitting for the discussion.

Yeah thats right they all come back looking like Yul Bryner but then it grows back again and in a week and nobody notices. :smack:

In all fairness we shouldn't be speaking in absolutes when it comes to the effects of health. Some people can handle things while other bodies go to pot pretty fast from abuse. So thats why I agree with King that some people who have the male pattern baldness problem down inside can have male pattern baldness magnified with abuse of some form. For his specific example, do I think lack of sleep can speed up male pattern baldness? I find it highly unlikely but possible. But tack on other abuses like awful diet and chemical abuse? Sure.

Just look at how bad some age from abuse.

Is that an extreme example? Yes. But it serves the purpose of this discussion.

But then some can keep on chugging even after massive abuse and be fine later in life.

Yes obviously if you are a hopeless junkie living on a diet of vodka, heroin and Crack and nothing else then you end up like that, but for a normal person smoking eating fast food or lack of excercise is not going to be the cause of or by any means a main contributing factor to m.p.b.

Winehouse will be dead before 30.
