As anyone noticed that Kirland 5% minoxidil is sometimes clear then it's a pale yellow? The ingredients are supposed to be the same in both. minoxidil, alcohol, propylene glycol. and purified water. So if it's the propylene glycol causing it why isn't it always yellow?

I don't think it is propylene glycol. It must be minoxidil. I have noticed that when the bottle is opened for some time, it turns into yellow.

I have looked up all the ingredients . loniten [minoxidil] is a white substance that is clear when disolved. Alcohol is also clear, as is propylene glycol. Water is also clear. They have to be adding something more then these to get this yellow colour.

I have opened all my 6 months supply and 5 are yellow with just 1 being clear.

Do all six bottles have the lot number and expiration date? Minoxidil is colorless. But I suspect the two primary amino groups on the minoxidil may oxidize when exposed to air especially when it is in solution, and turn into yellow color.

I worked with some alkylamines. They turned into yellow color after some time due to oxidiation according to their MSDSs.

I have checked both the lot number and the date on all six and they are the same with a expiry date 2014

The yellow one smells so much stronger then the clear. I think it might be a good idea to switch to rogaine or foam, don't like the look of this stuff.
