ketoconazole/nizoral cream

So I keep hearing about using ketoconazole/nizoral shampoo for hair loss. I myself use it a couple of times a week.

I also read and hear about (but not all that often) ketoconazole CREAM and the fact that it can be rubbed onto the scalp. The thought behind this being that ketoconazole shampoo only stays on your head a couple of minutes in the shower and it helps, so surely having the cream on your head for a good few hours is even better.

What are people's thoughts on this?

I've been trying to get hold of ketoconazole cream in the UK but it seems the stuff is only available by prescription from your doctor.

Here is a list of the ingredients:

Ingredients: (Per 1g) Ketoconazole 20mg • propylene glycol • stearyl alcohol • cetyl alcohol • sorbitan stearate • polysorbate 60 • polysorbate 80 • isopropyl myristate • sodium sulphate (E221) • purified water

Just wondering if there's anything in there that could be considered bad. Also wondering if there's anyone out there who has attempted the rubbing of nizoral cream on their scalp approach.

just a thought but I've read that you shouldn't use nizoral more than three times a week, perhaps a persistent cream could be bad news for the same reason...

yeah this stuff lowers testosterone and ED is in the list of side effects.

I get sides if I use the shampoo too much.

Yes, dry scalp.
Never heard about anyone experiencing ED because of 2% ketoconazole.

You must be very sensitive to ketoconazole.
Just use it 2-3 times a week.

Yeah thats what I do now. Actually, the reason for sides was I started using it on my face. It cleared up my blackheads and shrunk my pores like nothing else I've used. And I have a hard time finding a face soap that works for me. It gave me a strong panic attack, presumably from the lowered testosterone. As well as temporary ed.

As I've found with finasteride, topical application can be as strong as oral.

I now use keto shampoo a couple times a week with no noticable effects. But who knows what effects I am not noticing...

It seems you overdosed it. I just ordered 2% ketoconazole cream and I'm planing to use it 3 times a week when days off from Nizoral (1%).
I've read a lot of good things about cream.

How should I apply this? Rub it into my temples and scalp? Should I wash my hair first?
