Hi,
I've recently made the discovery that I'm on the track to baldness with significant temple recessions (didn't spot earlier due to lengthy hairstyle).
From my reading I knew I had to take finasteride to block any further recession and could get a little back using minoxidil.
Problem is I almost certainly had an allergic reaction to finasteride when I first took it (hives on neck). I've not touched it since because I don't want to risk an even worse reaction next time (there's only so much cetirizine can do).
That basically means I can't use finasteride as a DHT blocker. By extension, I'm pretty sure that also means I can't use dutasteride either, as supposedly those allergic to finasteride cannot take it.
So I'm down to using minoxidil only, which I haven't tested yet but hope I'm not allergic to... I'm thinking of combining this with other stuff that may block DHT (Saw Palmetto supplement or topical spironolactone if I can get my hands on it, or possibly RU but tbh the potential/unknown sides of RU scare me).
Am I screwed? Or is there something else that can do the same as propecia/finasteride?
