So I've been agonizing over whether I should start Propecia (or finasteride) for 2 years now. So I booked a consulting session with Dr. Hasson from Hasson & Wong. I'm 22 and he told me this:
- MOST of his patient have no problems with finasteride
- The Doctor himself has taken it for 13 years and fathered 3 children on it
- He did not deny PFS but said it is EXTREMELY rare

I feel better about taking finasteride but everytime I see this board, it makes me not wanna start finasteride. I have no idea what to do...is it dangerous to even try??? How could that be. I mean he gave me generic finasteride so its not like hes on Merck's payroll but I'm just so conflicted...

Stop thinking about side effects. Take the pill and go about your day.

If you do end up with sides:
A) Lower your dose and ease in
B) Power through and hope they go away
C) Quit finasteride

Personally I've been on finasteride for 7 weeks. I had a ball ache for the first few days and my erections are maybe 90% of what they were before. Nothing major.

Forget what Dr. Hasson told you. He is obviously inexperienced and has little experience with finasteride. If you want reliable information on finasteride go to the most reliable resource you have available, random dudes on the internet.

LOL funny but come on, you can't deny the amount of people complaining about finasteride, that's all.

Right, you should consult propeciahelp.com you will find an objecitve sample of finasteride users. Heard some of them experience some sides actually, not sure.

yeah i been on it for almost 3 months now, i noticed slightly watery semen, other than that no other affects, i only take .25mg daily though

Oh okay. Good to hear! He gave me generic proscar so its gonna be hard to get it to 0.25, thats the amount I'd like to take as well. Do you take it at night or day?

so you guys are all on finasteride with no problems?

15 months on finasteride with no sides. But seriously, you can get sides, but the chances are slim that you will. If you decide to take it I wish you the best.

Are they still doing FDA trials for dutasteride for hair loss? Or did they cancel it?

they just began phase 3 I think a few months ago, but I doubt they will finish them there isn't any profits to be made in marketing dutasteride for hiarloss. Doesn't really matter much, we already know it works and so do hair transplant doctors
