Just Got finasteride, But Is It Worth It...

After doing research all I can really say is that I don't know if finasteride will be worth it.
From what I've read, there have been multiple sources saying side effects will eventually happen, if not at the beginning, then later.
I heard that if you don't experience sexual sides you probably won't experience the other sides, which if this is true I would try it out.

But then, what I'm most fearful of is responding very well without any sides and then later down the road developing them and having to stop, thus losing all the progress I made rapidly.

I'd rather just hold off my hairloss with the treatments I have available and eventually go bald, than having side effects from finasteride. I don't want the mental side effects especially.

If I don't get side effects initially (within a year), am I in the clear or not?

I just need help in figuring out if finasteride is as high risk as it seems.

Just get on it and stop over thinking it. You can always go off if you experience bad sides.

Most sides are psychological and there's only like a 2% chance of getting them and even if you do you can just stop, you should be concerned about if it's even going to work or even make your hair worse.

Your never in the clear when it comes to treatments or male pattern baldness or anything else in life really. In the end its sink or swim nothing besides finasteride gives you any realistic shot honestly. Live with nature for now, or try it. Not many options. I know how it feels though its not an easy or small decision. I never tried it either despite having the prescription many years ago. Personally I am kind of glad i never tried it, but everyone is different and its a personal call. Its not wrong to not take it and let male pattern baldness continue its certainly a safer long term plan.

Go ahead and give finasteride a go. If the sides are too much, stop taking it. The drug does not effect most people in anyway. The reason I do not take it is because once you start, you are a prisoner to the drug. The hair that you managed to save using finasteride will fall off with time once you stop taking finasteride. Another thing to keep note if you are a long term user: there are hardly any long term studies on the drug. Blocking DHT for many years may be dangerous to our health and we may not even know it. DHT is a very potent androgen, and inhibiting it for a long time surely has to have some downsides.

I honestly don't think finasteride is even that strong of a drug. Has literally done nothing for me. Feels like I am taking a placebo every day.

It's worth it. It's worth it. It's worth it. It's kinda funny to me (no offense, I know these are legitimate concerns of yours) when folks worry so much about the sides that they don't even try it. I got on it a couple months ago without one thought about the sides (I mean, all I had to see was that 2% experience substantial side effects). And I'm still not concerned. Have I experienced side effects? Well, perhaps. I have noticed erections are a bit harder (heh) to get or maintain, but even that's questionable because, due to coincidental travel plans, I haven't seen my girlfriend in over a month (so basically since finasteride has had a chance to kick in). So I'm sure that plays into it a bit. But all that aside, just don't worry about it. I've seen fantastic results already (I know most people don't see results by 2 months, but I'm seeing noticeable results and I'm glad). I find that the minor sides are worth the hair. But you may not. Just give it a try. But most importantly, get it cheaply (if you're in the US, Walmart is like 9 times less expensive than a pharmacy).
