Hi guys, I'm new in the forum and I'm looking to actually share my story and possibly get a few input.
I'm 18 years old, and just recently had a battle with acne. Never took drugs like accutane but It's kind of cured now, but, of course, being the unlucky bastard that I am, I'm starting to receed, still being an imature guy who just started university. I'm crushed, devastated, and I don't even know what to do.
My father/granded were bald (like norwood 3) at 28 years old more or less, and it pains to be that guy in Uni who is a miserable receeding, no-hopes, dude, and I can't really stand it. I thought I was in the clear since I have, unlike them, curly hair like my mother's, and her side of the family doesn't even have baldness (yep, thanks dad).
Now, doing some intensive research, I really wanted to hop into finasteride. I don't give a crap about the side effects, I want to keep my hair, so I can possible retain it and start growing a little bit more on the sides and regaining the thickness in the frontal area. I actually think that if I start doing it now, maybe I'll be able to succeed in preventing this crap.
But guess what? Still living with my parents, they don't authorise me to do it. I've been to a derm and he said I wasn't receeding, because my mom stupidly pressed him during the consultation. But I KNOW I am, I have mirrors at home, and I can feel it. But they live in freaking denial and refuse to simply believe in treatments such as propecia (I am portuguese, and they are very skeptical down here), so they just want me to take it on the chin, but I'm not ready for that.
I'm okay with balding, but f***** really? At 18 years old? Christ's sake. My life is just starting...
