I guess I just dont understand hair loss too well. I dont understand why it affects some men at a very early age and others in their mid to late 30s. Some celebs have had hair all their lives and just recently went bald such as Billy Joel. I know the rule of thumb is that the earlier you go bald, the worse it will likely be..but alot of bald older men went bald later in life and have it bad.
I also dont understand why some people on here get scared that their hairline is receding. Isnt hairline recession a normal thing for men? Surely we cant have the same hairline at 25 that we did when we were 12. And if you do have some temporal recession, why does this mean that it will progress? I watch television constantly and see men with full heads of hair but their temples have receded...just look at our president..
my last question is concerning my own experience. I posted my story in the other section but go no replies...I was diagnosed by a hair specialist with telogen effluvium. I know some of you will roll your eyes as if I am in denial, but I am not...I went to the specialist 3 times in the last 6 months because I am convinced I am have male pattern baldness. Each time though she insists that because of the density of my hair and because i was shedding telogen hairs along the top, the sides, the back...pretty much everywhere and the fact that I had months and months of terrible anxiety and panic attacks at night all without a doubt lead to telogen effluvium. I have only recently gotten myself under control with the help of therapy and medication. She says it can take a full year for my hair cycle to go back to normal, but I get extremely nervous that Telogen Effluvium in a man is different than if it were in a woman. With men, i feel like anytime you start to shed hairs for whatever reason, you are doomed.
