This guy is older then 45 and he doesnt have a "mature hairline" so how is this possible. Everything ive read from hair transplant surgeons to people on forums all say everyone loses hair with age. John kerry didnt so did aging miss him somehow? There is a reason he didnt lose any hair, Im pretty sure its not just DHT but clearly theres no mature hairline. Your thoughts as to why he has all his hair?

5% of Caucasian males retain their juvenile hairline throughout their life. John Kerry happens to be one of them. Bill Clinton is another. It is very rare.

Most people at least go to NW2, but it doesn't appear that either of these men ever will.

Yeah well alot of people argue that everyone goes to a norwood 2 and thats not true. So if you have lost any hair from your juvenile hairline then its baldness and you should do something to stop it. I dont understand why some people consider some hairloss a normal part of aging it clearly is not.

but it clearly is. MOST people do not go bald. But MOST people lose hair in the temples. Period. temple loss thats all. Caucasions do not have african american hairlines for the most part which tend to look like that of a caucasion female in appearance. But some people are lucky enough to have that and retain it.

But for the most part, men will lose slightly in their temples and never lose density anywhere else. And i dont mean the ugly "conservative" hair transplant NW2. Thats a BALDING look which hair transplant surgeons pretend is a normal mans hairline. I mean a hairline like the newscaster Keith Olberman

. Cmon, you see that much more often then you do someone with christian bales' NW0.

I agree with JayB, norwood 2 is not balding. I've been a norwood 2 the past 4 years but never thought myself as bald until i started thinning all over this year... being thin gives the impression you'll loose the top soon.

So is there a way to know whether someone is actually balding or just developing a so called "mature hairline"?

ask them about their family genetics lol. only way i know of. or get the scalp mapped out by a good derm for miniaturization with a densitometer. They can determine if other areas are thinning besides the NW2 hairline

I've was a nw2 like the guy in the photo my entire life until m.p.b kicked in. Not everybody has a low, strong Nw1 hairline. Many Nw2's dont go bald either they just stay nw2's. If I saw that guy I would'nt think he was balding and niether would 99% of the general public not everyone can or does have hair like Fred Ward. Or Ronald Reagan. (someone post a pic of them please)

I've heard someone say that transplant doctors tell patients "teenage hairlines" look bad only to give the patients more self confidence and make them think the procedure is not so limited. Is this true? I've gone back to a NW2 and thought that this was normal, but is this just a myth?

Nw2 is perfectly normal many guys go from a nw1 to nw2 naturaly at any age above 18. It does not mean that you are neccesarily going bald. Personaly I think that nw2 looks good on most men. If you'd seen my hairline as a kid you would have described it as nw2, my hairline is naturally high and curved.
