Job Interviews and Hair loss

Has anybody ever felt like there chances of making a good impression are diminished due to how there hair looks? Are there some jobs you haven't gone after due to insecurity caused by there current hair situation? Just curious if there're any guys with some positive advice how to make a good first impression.

More people have started calling me "Sir" after I started losing hair .So if anything, balding makes you more mature which is good for interviews.

Are you an NW5 or 6? Keep it high and tight. If you're like an NW3 you seriously have nothing to worry about. I frankly think job interviews, at least in the professional world, are the one situation where hair loss is almost beneficial. It is, frankly, a sign of maturity, if only in a pavlovian sense. Maybe you're only 23 or something, but having a receded hair line does give one an aura of authority, esteem, and experience. Especially if the interviewer is a middle aged man (or woman). If you're at the Abercrombie store, interviewing with a 24 year old little girl with half a brain made up for by a glorious figure, then maybe you might need to worry.

Well I looked really good with hair and it ruined my aspirations of getting into the entertainment industry because that's what I've wanted my whole life. Now that I think about going bald and trying to get a job is just a whole nother wreck for me. Thank you for that.

Interesting advice, thanks for the replies, never thought of this problem as being an asset in this situation. I'm in the NW2-2.5 area in my thirties now but I bet I'm just as insecure as guys who have lost more, I don't come across as a really confident guy and a bad hair day doesn't help lol

Templerecess made some good points. I actually got my first good job as a buzzed NW3. Just make sure your hair is nice and neat. If you are an advanced norwood I would say a close buzz would be a good idea. Equally important if not more is the way you dress. You want to look the best you can.

The most important part on a job interview is too look confident if you show insecurity because of hair or something else HR will notice it and you will get ether a low offer or no offer at all.

I'm only 24 and I definitely get the "Sir" thing a whole lot too. And I do believe in the mature aspect. I used to hate hairloss, but now I think those surfer punk looking kids with long flowing golden locks look like bozo's to me, and I'm sure much of the professional world agrees. In fact I think an NW3 can keep you out of getting the job at your local skate shop, but get you into the corporate office you've always wanted. Just saying.

I agree with ladysman and diablodh. Overall when it come to interviews you are selling yourself. You want to put your best foot forward. Many things will come into play not just your hair.

It depends on your age and what level job you are applying for
If you are trying to get a low level corporate job at the start of your career, unfortunately I think you will be disadvantaged. Companies want young graduates who look eager and willing to put in 80 hours a week.
Though if you are 40 I doubt it makes a difference
